This is an excellent library with lots of resources. The infrastructure inside is extremely well maintained. Only issue is with parking. Limited free parking is available in the basement for an hour and after that it's paid.
Came here as a recommendation visiting from Houston and Im glad we stopped!! Their outside garden patio has a sweet view of Austin and it was very refreshing to be outside with the wind. They also have a bunch of board games that we played while we were there.
Been meaning to visit Austin Public Library Downtown for a while!! Definitely worth the hype as a non-local. I visited in early Feb 2026. It's a modern building with a clean navigation/division of genres. Tons of tables and chairs spread-out, perfect for college students or remote folks looking for a place to hanker down and study. Or read , ofc!! I stayed for about 1.5 hours to do some studying for an exam. The rooftop garden was chill, with a nice view.
