Distant Relatives Reviews
My husbands favorite spot.
One of our absolute favorite spots to rock out and to chill out in Austin. Killer sound and space. Don’t be scared by the heat! Their misters, ENORMOUS fans, shade trees, cold drinks and ice cream truck almost make you forget it’s summer in Texas. For real. 🤘🏼❤️

Distant Relatives offers a creative fusion of Texas Barbecue and African American flavors, featuring a unique menu that includes tasty brisket and pulled pork. The mustard BBQ sauce is a standout, and the pickled cabbage and sausage linx are delightful sides. This restaurant is a cool place to hang out, with easy parking and friendly service. The brisket is loved for its moist and tender qualities, while the pulled pork sandwich is perfectly balanced with lean meat and finely shredded coleslaw. Guests have praised the ribs and chicken as well. The black eyed peas with burnt ends are superb, adding a bit of heat, though some noted a slightly bitter aftertaste. The grits are the best, and the grilled bread covered in meat juices is a hit. The food is packed with flavor and the pricing for side items is good, making it a pleasant location. Overall, Distant Relatives is a spot worth visiting, especially for those who enjoy a variety of barbecue options.
