El Mercado Reviews
The pork smoked dishes / its all good / great staff
There’s nothing better than going to El Mercado on a Sunday morning to see the Purgatory Players for the benefit of the Central Texas Food Bank! Get the Migas with a side of Guy Forsyth, Rich Brotherton, Scrappy Jud Necomb and John Chipman!
Food is good…music venue is GREAT.

El Mercado offers a lively atmosphere with wonderful live music and great margaritas. The staff is kind, and the service is usually phenomenal, though it can get busy on nice days or during musical events. The restaurant is known for its delicious Tex-Mex food that never disappoints. Customers especially enjoy the tortilla soup, which is delicious, and the Mexican rice, very tangy. The Gospel Brunch remains a popular event, featuring family-style seating and fantastic live music. The back patio is a nice, dog-friendly space where pets are welcomed with water bowls. Popular dishes include queso, chicken fajitas, and spinach and mushroom quesadillas, which are some of the best around—filled generously and served crispy with guac and sour cream. New items like Latin kisses (jalapeño stuffed with shrimp and cheese wrapped with bacon) have been brought back, and the brisket enchiladas are a great recommendation. The margaritas can vary in quality, but a large half frozen half rocks margarita is wonderful. With ample parking, including a lot across the street, El Mercado is a great spot to enjoy a tasty meal, some entertainment, and a relaxing atmosphere.
