We went with family on Saturday after Thanksgiving and had a great evening. We've been many times in the past and we were excited about introducing family members to the restaurant. We had another terrific evening! The food is always consistently great. Our daughter in law is Spanish and introduced us to some menu items that we hadn't previously tried, and which were wonderful. This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant and one of the excellent restaurants in Austin.

The menu was misleading. We ordered several vegetarian dishes, including what was listed as roasted Brussels sprouts. Only at the end did the waiter mention that the sprouts were actually fried—and cooked in the same oil and utensils used for meat items. This was very disappointing and felt deceptive, both in presenting a dish as vegetarian and in calling it roasted when it wasn't. Unfortunately, this experience has put us off, and we don't plan to return to this restaurant....

I booked El Raval for my out-of-town group of 10 after trying for 1st time last month with a friend. 5-star both times and situations. Great ambiance and food and service staff. I got to try more items this time, being with a larger group. The kitchen's execution of the innovative dishes delighted everyone.
