Epoch is some of the best coffee in Austin! Their cold brew, filters, espresso, and flashbrews are all superb. They clearly care about coffee, seek out artisan roasters, and prepare the coffee well. The matcha is decent as well (though, this seems to depend on who makes it). Unfortunately, the chai (Rishi concentrate, I think?) and syrups do not meet the same standard and the mocha was a powder (at least last time I tried it), which lacks a strong flavour and often does not mix well. The have an array of seasonal specials, some of which can be kind of hit and miss, but points to them for the adventurous and arrayed offerings! I am glad they have alternative milks, but it is highly irksome that they charge extra for it, which can make getting a drink extremely expensive (an alternative milk + a customisation like a syrup and it can come to $7 something plus tip for a drink sometimes, which is extortionate!). As another point of criticism, their iced drinks are also very heavy on the ice, making it questionably worth the money. Apparently, they offer taco and tamales, as well as an array of sandwiches; I wish I could comment on the food, but they are unfortunately always sold out (couldn't they order more, given the demand?).
Epoch has a unique company culture and I love how inclusive they are of everyone, particularly the trans community; the store has trans love letters, a pride flag, and other messages of support, which provides a safe and welcoming space that is much needed especially in this terrifying political climate. I expect this gains some rancour from some people, but it is amazing to see a business doing this. The inclusion, acceptance, and positivity really embodies what Austin is (and should) be about.
I have only ever gotten takeaway, but the atmosphere of the store is great. There's a lot of place for seating and there's a range of people there-- from middle-aged people who live in the neighbourhood, to UT students studying, to the occasional work meeting. Oddly, I have not seen many kids there (it's near two schools and in a kid friendly neighbourhood) and their menu does not seem like it would cater to children (coffee or foodwise); (as someone who does not have children, this is not a problem for me and the students studying there probably appreciate the lack of children, but it is worth noting!) I wish they were dog friendly, though; it would certainly fit the vibe, everyone loves dogs, and certainly the neighbourhood has plenty of them.
All in all, an excellent coffee shop (perhaps not the best in Austin but amongst the best) with a great message. Just less ice and more dogs, please!

Love the atmosphere. Bright, oddly tropical or Caribbean, and lots of space to relax in. The coffee, on the other hand, was “just okay”. Of course I love a good coffee and I have drank coffee all over the world, but it seems like this one was a bit burnt and lacked consistency all the way through. Nothing wrong with that, of course, if that’s your jam…but it did leave me a bit disappointed. Barista was nice and she was quite efficient at the machine. I got a latte while my wife got a cappuccino.

Really nice coffee shop. The inside has a great feel. Their black coffee was great but has a lot of other tasty looking drinks.

Me and my partner only had coffees from Epoch, one of the best coffees we’ve had here in Austin. The space was really cute, queer and trans friendly with lots of advice and safety tips around. Would highly recommend

We had an amazing experience at Sunday at 7:30 am with Schumer and Travers. The coffee was great and the experience superior.

Great coffee, work, and social space in a freestanding building at the top of the hill on Far West. Extensive coffee menu, including blendys. I enjoyed their horchata and a drip coffee.
This location has two rooms of seating and a small covered patio. There's even a chair massager doing business at the end of the coffee bar. Board games and books. A fun place to spend an afternoon.
There's a small free parking lot wrapped around the building and shared with adjacent businesses.

The vibe you get from this staff person is just horrible. You go for a coffee and you get to deal with this moody person behind the bar. Unpleasant and arrogant. I do not think all the staff is like this. But one was already way too far for me. I insist. Just a very bad vibe / attitude. I will not go again.

You gotta love a place that reserves space for the island of misfit toys!

It doesn't matter where I am in Austin - If I want coffee, a latte to be exact, I got to Epoch. Luckily there are a few locations but my favorite is Far West. The atmosphere is great. There are lots of plants, light, good music, and lots of great places to sit or work. The drinks are always fantastic and I love the staff. They know my order and are always silly and love to riff, but they take their jobs very seriously. I think it's a great mix of professionalism and warmth. The pastries and tacos are wonderful, too!

Epoch is one of my top three coffee shops in Austin!! I’ve developed such sweet relationships with the baristas and they truly have some of the BEST coffee in Austin (I’m def a coffee snob). It’s always such a treat to go. 🥰 Go check em out - you won’t be disappointed! 🤩🙌🏼✨💖😍
