Franklin Barbecue Reviews
Just completed a tour of the Central Texas Barbecue Scene. Visited Snow's BBQ-Lexington, Louie Mueller-Taylor, Kreus Market, Smitty's and Black's-Lockhart, The Salt Lick- Driftwood and Franklin's in Austin. It was great seeing the venues and the family history at these historic sites. I visited Franklin's in the past and felt it was the best brisket I had ever eaten in my life. Franklin Barbecue is an institution of American BBQ, known for its exceptional brisket and smoked turkey. Despite long waits, the food is absolutely delicious and worth it. The brisket is amazing, well seasoned, and moist. The ribs are fall off the bone and tender, while the jalapeño cheddar sausage is a highlight. They are super generous with their portions. The inside area is really clean and organized, and the staff are very friendly, creating a great atmosphere. Waiting in line has a tailgating feel to it. The restaurant has a limited menu of sides like coleslaw and potato salad, which are well-received. The atmosphere is casual and pub-like, but it can feel tight. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible with a ramp and features a small dine-in area along with a pet-friendly patio. Prices can be high, but many agree that the food is worth it. Franklin Barbecue is a must-visit for BBQ enthusiasts looking for top-notch, flavorful meats.
