The wait in line with the crouds,a wonderful smoke smells will make you hungry .Someone gona ask your order for meats as you wait. I got the last beef rib and it was the star of the day...The moment you get to enter the stickers n tagged door the smells are good..Lots of merchandise there n rubs n spice too..The counter shows nothing of there offering, just a cutting board. Sides come from back, not able to view .Friendly staff and pleasant ordering my food and then given a tray covered in oil tallow and messy. All the meats except the turkey was cooked perfect ..But so much salt on brisket and heavy tallow covered a perfectly cook n smoke brisket, once chilled it's covered in fat.Pork ribs again pleasant but so much salt good smoke not pull off bone but good served wet.Turkey ok sausage good..The beef rib was the star pulling apart the rub was just right but covered in oil again and not all the fat rendered. This is a bucket list stop. But not my favorite in texas good still.A must try . And there are people that hold lines for cash 1 person just after we entered turns into 2 or more for those who will pay not to wait.If it wasn't so salty ??? Ribs had to toss

So my first time here. I'm visiting from Baltimore and was told to come early. I was told that the line starts at 400 or 430am, which was incorrect. I was also told that everything is sold out by 11am which was odd to me since it they close by 3pm. 4am comes and I arrive with no one in sight. I asked a smoker about if they take orders early or do you keep everyone in line until 11am (I'm not waiting 5 to 6 hours for food) An the smoker nicely told me that yes, that is how it works. The area has no lighting so it is very dark which makes no sense. As I'm walking to my car, im then approached by Austin Police Officers after asking about the time and information, which I then got harrassed. The next day i contacted the business and asked for the owner Aaron Franklin who seems to never be on site and I was told that they would inform the owner about the issue and misinformation. This was six years ago and he never contacted nor did anything about the situation.

Very nice and polite staff that makes you feel at home. Tried the ribs which were very tender and juicy but a too little salty for me. The brisket was great, and I would highly recommend. Great place to eat but bring your patience because there will be a line.

This is a solid 4.5 star place. Didn't try the sides but the meats are great. Everything was cooked perfectly. The ribs are literally fall off the bone tender but a bit on the salty side. If you want a beef rib, get there early. The brisket is very good but I recommend the lean over the moist as the marbling can be a bit over powering. Tried all 4 bbq sauces: Regular/Spicy/Vinegar/Espresso. All 4 tasty and unique. Regular and Vinegar might be worth buying a bottle of. My only complaint is that they drench the butcher paper in so much Tallow its almost unbearable. Literally the bottoms of the trays, the butcher paper, everything is oily due to this. We got in line at 930am and got inside around 11:45am. Plenty of parking available. Not bad considering it was a Sunday. Definitely a bucket list stop!

Post 2024 April 8th eclipse visit, got in line with my wife at 11:45. Had multiple visits from the employees stating that we were in the "probably not going to get food" part of the line; my wife convinced me to stay the course. Got up to the ramp and had another disclaimer that "all the guarantees were inside the door", stayed the course. Got inside and began to count people past the "guarantees", +1, +2, +3.... There's still a chance... Finally, there were about 6 people in front us, we got the, "there's just brisket, ribs and turkey left". I'm thinking to myself, what were people ordering? That's the best stuff! Got up there, ordered some brisket, ribs and got the last of the turkey! Never loved BBQ more in my life, I mean my wife. My wife.Turkey was alright, ribs were good.Brisket can't be beat!Little over two hours in line, but the payoff was worth it. Thank you, Franklins!
