I had brunch here with my girlfriends. The food was fine, the atmosphere was fine. Overall just fine, nothing to write home about nothing to complain about. I paid my bill without closely reviewing because the number and type of items was correct. But something told me to look again- and the biscuits priced as 8 dollars on the menu were charged at 18 dollars! Then when I called to find out what happened, the manager on duty said “oh yeah…I think that button is wrong” in a nonchalant way, her words indicating they KNEW they were overcharging for their food. She refunded the overcharge, but it seems very wrong (and probably illegal) to knowingly overcharge patrons. I cant recommend a restaurant that does this and never in my years of living has this happened, especially at a restaurant connected with such a high end hotel.

We had tea here. It was good and the staff were pleasant.

Most of the food was fine, but very overpriced. The $50 steak was extremely fatty and not the quality you would expect for the price.
The food took 45 minutes to hit the table after ordering despite us being literally the only customers in the restaurant. After pointing out to the waiter that one of the dishes was not as the menu described, we were met with a dismissive response. They did remake the dish and the result was fine (but it took another 45 minutes).
Overall an underwhelming meal. There is lots of good food in Austin. Go somewhere else.

Went for high tea during the holidays, there was a wedding going on at the same time. There was also a large group maybe 10-12 right next to us, very loud and boisterous, made it almost impossible to have a conversation at our table. The food was ok, the small sandwiches had been sitting out because the bread was not fresh, just becoming stale on the outside. I'd try somewhere else next time for the price.
The food was dreadful! The sandwiches were dried out and tasteless. The sweets were clearly prepurchased desserts that were produced en masse. No real tea service. Just a pot of hot water and pre packaged tea bags provided. I don't think they knew how to do a tea service. All for a small charge of $70 a person.
Very disappointing - reserved restaurant week in advance, they took my credit card, arrived to fine restaurant was closed. Very frustrating as we booked this for a work event with special guests from out of town!
High tea was a fantastic experience overall. For the price, the food and tea was very average (and imo overpriced). But also you get a glass of champagne with the event, and we ordered espresso martinis which were very tasty. The historical building is elegant and added to the experience. The manager was extremely gracious and helped us out when there was an issue with our RSVP. Would recommend it as a one time experience for sure.

I paid $252 for three people for afternoon tea at Goodalls, and it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had. The portions were extremely small, the pastries were stale, and the sandwiches were subpar at best. Even the strawberry garnish was old, and the flower on our table was wilted—not exactly the atmosphere you’d expect for a premium afternoon tea.
The tea service itself was underwhelming—you’re handed a box of tea bags to select from and told to place them in the teapot yourself. They don’t even offer water alongside. The service was indifferent and unfriendly, and there was no music playing at all, making the entire experience feel cold and awkward.
I was honestly embarrassed to have brought my mother here for her birthday. At the very least, the staff could have been pleasant, smiled, and made an effort to create a welcoming atmosphere. Some soft instrumental music would have gone a long way.
I will not be coming back, and I highly recommend others avoid this place. There are far better options in the area for the price.
To add to the disappointment, there is no dress code, and most guests looked like they were heading to the beach, not an upscale tea service. It completely took away from what should have been an elegant, special experience.

I had a great time celebrating my birthday with afternoon tea. The food was delicious and the service was great.
Absolutely had one of the best meals in my life here a couple weekends ago! Quite and cozy restaurant, with great staff and great drinks!

Overall disappointing experience. We had reservations for high tea, but when we arrived we were offered the brunch menu. We decided that was ok, as we were all hungry. The restaurant was empty, and the staff was busy polishing bar ware and folding napkins. Our waiter was slow, and food, once it was ready was carried out by others as he, apparently, couldn't hear the bell from where he was seated. The food itself was extremely bland. Dry cinnamon roll, under cooked biscuits, hard poached eggs, and the like. We would have liked to address those issues, but again, we were not attended to. We were there to celebrate a birthday, so didn't want to make a big deal out of the poor food and service. They did gift our birthday person with a complimentary coffee. Overall, we felt like an afterthought. I did email the hotel with my feedback, but have not yet heard from them. There are many options available for brunch with far superior food and service.
I was looking forward to the experience, but the air conditioning was out. We got all dressed up pretty to have tea and sweated the whole time. The waitress was sweet and helpful. The cheesecake was disgusting. I'm not sure it was worth the price. The ambiance and decor was tremendously different than the photos a friend shared with me prior to going.
We ate out by the pool. The food was basic but so good
