Very unique place. Delicious food. Will be back!
Steak Frites...excellent..I d keep going back just for this.
I was looking for an interesting place to take my wife for a nice lunch. It's a little bit of a drive for us, but it's all good. When we got there, we managed to find a lucky parking spot in the back. Downside to eating downtown is parking. The minute we walked in, my wife loved it. It's very uniquely decorated to its theme. We didn't have reservations because the host asked us, but there were very few people there. We were seated in the rear of the restaurant, which I recommend because the ac works better there. Once seated, our server was awesome š I was a little surprised by the menu because there was not a lot to choose from. Not many people there it took a while to get our order. I ordered the English breakfast. It was mediocre. The sausage could have been bigger. The bacon was salty as hell. It seemed like a cheap version of an English breakfast french style. But pricey. Talk about BS. The BLT was good. Can't really go wrong there. The escargot was very plain. Missing the garlic. The presentation was nice but very bland. I've tried escargot in Paris and a few places in the States, but this was numbing bland. It's really a disgrace. Save your $16 dollars. I did want the burger, but not at $21, especially when it's 80/20. Enough said interesting place spent $80 on a few items not really interested in returning. They need a menu overhaul, and the place might be worth going to. Honestly, the bbq place next door looked good. For the money and better fill, why not try the bbq place next time.
Service and atmosphere are good. The food was mediocre and overpriced for what it was. I had the ratatouille and it was super salty and the texture of some of the veggies was rubbery so probably undercooked. The fries were decent but over salted. My friends also felt that the food wasnāt great.
My husband and I love this restaurant. Weāve been here for several date nights and always had a great time. Therefore we invited our family to enjoy Easter brunch here. We understood that it would be busy during the holiday to get seated right away so we were all really patient and sat ourselves in the bar area until we got our table (this was 1pm). We got our table around 1:20pm (and we had a 1pm reservation) and did not get waters or greeted until 1:30pm. Long story short, we got two rounds of drinks and no food until 2:35pm. I could tell this was not the serverās fault because he looked equally frustrated that we did not have our food. Iām not sure if this was a food runner or kitchen or a server section problem but this was not the experience we had hoped for. We had a good time overall because we were in good company and the food is good. We just hope the service timing improves and that we get offered dessert or coffee next time.
Great time, good
Location. Bartenders were the best. I almost miss my flight.
Delicious food. Great bar. Beautiful staff.
It was an awful meal nothing tasted good the pasta and steak were very bad seasonings poor especially on the steak
It is a little dark, but if that doesn't bother you, this place is a great date night spot! You could also stop in for happy hour. Their beer selection is š !
I had the best experience here! My friends and I tried the Ratatouille, chicken pasta and burger- and everything was delicious. The tall bartender with the glasses was really sweet and accommodating. Will definitely be going back

Since Iāve been going to Hopfields for 10 years now with friends and family, or for anything special, then maybe itās time for a review..
Hopfields is a gourmet French restaraunt disguised by its name and the word āGastropubā. It has fusion elements, but make no mistake, itās not āAsian-Frenchā. Itās āFrench -Frenchā
A great example is āRabbit with dumplingsā as pictured. This⦠I did not share⦠and Iām a sharer! It was like a rabbit stew, with very small dumplings to suck in the flavor. For me, itās simply indescribable, and needs a pro food critic for description. Which is the true definition of understated great food, which is what Hopfieldās is all about.
The salad nicoise is undeserved by Austin. 2 eggs, with house made aoli and anchovies complete the bounty of colorful and delicious ingredients to choose from arranged around the lettuce and seared tuna. Fortunately, I never have to order this. I simply get someone else to get it, eat everything, and they leave the eggs and anchovies for me to finish off!
French onion soup. Get out of here. Had it in France enough to know, this beats that.
Escargot. In Spain, I ate basket of snails with a toothpick and garlic aoli, so maybe escargot isnāt for everyone as it is for me: a craving. While Hopfieldās doesnāt do it as authentically as France, this is through an understanding of the local audience I feel, and they do a great job. As you can see in the photo, I vibe this was escargot, already within pastry. No spreading the snail and garlic butter on bread. Disguising the mollusk. So more palatable for those who go donāt order Ebi Shrimp sushi with the head on like myself.
Wine recommendation from staff was great! Iām not as picky about my wine as my snails. āFruit forward Redā, perfect.
If you go to Hopfields, you wonāt write a review for 10 years until you move out of Austin like me. Because youāll ant to keep this treasure all to yourself. My Precious!!! (Yes, that was written with a Gollum voice in mind)
Wonderful employees, wonderful food, and a good date night atmosphere.
Best French onion soup and espresso cocktail
A tad pricey but very good food and choice of beers. They have a lot of space so ideal to bring a group. Def recommend to check it out.
Eric was the coolest bartender Iāve met in Austin, the food was awesome and the beer was phenomenal!!!
