Bonsai is my favorite non sushi Japanese restaurant in all of Austin!! From their hearty bowls, to their appetizers I could eat here multiple times a week. Their bowls kind remind me of Chipotle bowls because I always have leftovers, but with super authentic Japanese flair. Must order items: 1. Crispy shrimp balls (one of the best apps in all of Austin!!!) 2. Chicken wings 3. All the bowls are good, but my favorites are the katsu and seafood ones.
Y'all. Y'all. Y'all. Bonsai Bowl Austin is a gem and a treat and it's perfect. We first found them when they were over at Thicket and on a whim while picking up our Brooklyn Breakfast grabbed a few small items to try. They've now moved over to the Yard and we're so happy they're still around. We've since gotten I think everything on the menu and it's all so good. The rice bowls are crispy and fluffy and marvelous. The chicken is crispy and tender and the dipping sauce is amazing....read full review

In front of the Sake Bar in St Elmo Yard.Visited on 27 Aug in evening. Open after 4? I think. Not there at lunch sadly.Loved the Pork Katsu bowl. Was flavorful and well presented. I like having the egg (cooked to order on it)
