Overpriced attempt at Mexican food done wrong, too much grease covering food, service terrible, slow and so disappointing! Definitely do NOT recommend this place, poor job guys!

La Popular Austin is a lovely place to eat with fantastic tacos and churros to die for. The nachos starter is wonderful with the right balance of spices. The Quesabirria, Carnitas, and Campechano tacos are especially outstanding. The food is really tasty with great flavors and the margaritas are good. The vibe is dark and stylish, kind of like a nightclub. It is a huge value add to the area and very consistent. Service is usually friendly and efficient, though it feels limited and things don’t flow as quickly as they should. It’s a must-visit for good Mexican food, and don’t forget to try their chili pepper powder mango lollipops at the end of the meal. Highly recommended.
