If you’re in South Austin and your taste buds are bored, drag them to Hopdoddy. I grabbed the Cadillac Wagyu, and it did not disappoint. The steak sauce is borderline addictive. (A1 better watch out.) It’s definitely the kind of sauce that makes you briefly consider licking the parchment paper in public.
The truffle fries deserve their own spotlight. Crispy, golden deliciousness, hit with just enough truffle oil to make their taste elevated above boring old “French fries.” Almost perfection. Make sure to try the chipotle ketchup while you’re at it. It’s got a fun little kick that sneaks up on you in a good way. (Unlike your credit card bills each month.)
Now… let’s talk about buns. (Not those…) When you get a big honkin burger, the bottom bun tends to not survive. Kind of like your favorite TV show character. (For me it was Derek Shepherd). So halfway through the burger, the bun surrendered to the juice and turned into something resembling mushed-up zombie brains. You’ll still eat it, but you might need a fork.
Definitely get a shake! I went for the cookies and cream shake, which tasted like someone put an Oreo factory through a blender and hit it with some milkshake magic. Thick, creamy, and sweet but not soo thick that you cannot slurp it up a straw.
Now for a hot take: Hopdoddy is not exactly kid-friendly. Sure, they can accommodate, but between the noise, funky seating setup, and tight spaces, it’s not the easiest place for little ones unless your toddler thrives in chaos. Great for a casual adult hangout, but not so much for sippy cups and strollers.
Quick notes before you go:
This location can get crowded and loud, because apparently everyone else had the same great idea.
It’s not open seating, so you will get a table assigned when you order.
It’s Not cheap, but the flavor does its part to make up for it.
Summary:
Cadillac Wagyu burger? Excellent and yummy and beefy and flavorful.
Truffle fries? You are crazy not to order them.
Cookies and cream shake? If you want a dessert this the correct choice.
Not so Kid-friendly. Only if your kids enjoy mild chaos.
Would I go back? Yes. With extra napkins and zero toddlers.

The higher quality meat on a burger is just a great idea! I always get the burger bowl and don't feel cheated on flavor. The fries and Shiner Bock added to the experience today. Happy Monday for me!!

Delivery of mushroom burger and truffle fries $35 all inclusive. Over an hour to wait it arrived cold and lack of taste. I called and left a message twice for them to call me back. They never did. I’m tempted to stop my American Express payment. I’d like to speak with the management

Really good burgers. Was busy but died down some later. But the food makes up for it all. Skinny fries which aren’t everyone’s favorite, but they’re at least very good. Will be back.

Great happy hour deal with half price drinks, also including $5 sliders. I enjoyed their margarita, good night burger, and sweet potato fries.
They have several tables, booths, bar stools, and a covered patio.
This location shares a large parking lot with other freestanding businesses in the same lot.

The quality in this place has gone down every year it has been open. The burgers taste pre-made and everything is always soggy and old trashing. My ahi tuna was minced fish. not a nice fillet and it was well done. Almost $20 for a terrible sandwich, yet again. Don't go here, downtown location is way better

Their fries is more appetite than the burgers. But I still recommending this restaurant for burgers lovers. Thanks you for validating parking hours for SoCo location.
