Wonderful experience! I had the Beet Hash, super flavorful! My friend was able to get our spot in line as we headed that way so the table was ready when we arrived. If you're looking for a modern diner feel, youve got it, bustling, red pleather(?) booths, friendly service, cold brew, and classic menu items (biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs) and new spins (green corizo hash, fried green tomato blt. Briscuit breakfast burrito)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Phoebe’s Diner – Austin, TX
A Cozy Gem with Elevated Comfort Food
I stopped at Phoebe’s Diner expecting classic country-style biscuits and gravy, but what I found was so much more. The food was elevated, almost gourmet — like southern comfort had been reimagined with a chef’s touch. Everything was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
The bacon alone deserves its own shout-out — thick-cut, perfectly cooked, and so large I only needed one slice. Every bite was full of flavor and cooked with care. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, enough to leave me satisfied for the rest of my drive home.
The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and had that “local favorite” feel — casual yet refined. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the whole experience felt like a wonderful surprise tucked into a relaxed Austin setting.
If you’re in Austin and want comfort food that feels special — the kind that feeds both your appetite and your soul — Phoebe’s Diner is absolutely worth the stop.

I had the biscuits and sage-sausage gravy with an egg. The egg was a perfectly standard diner egg. The “biscuit” was closer to a focaccia bread than a biscuit. I’m not enough of a baker to say what was wrong, but Phoebe should buy a cookbook. The sage-sausage gravy was lacking the sausage. I think they tried to fill in the lack of sausage with extra sage - it was way too much. My gravy was a little “gritty” too, I’m not sure what caused that. I won’t eat there again.

My friend and I were so impressed by all of the good food options. Healthy and filling with great big portions! Plenty of gluten free options. I was so impressed with all of the servers I interacted with. They answered my questions about the menu and helped me order coffee in a new way. Best breakfast ever!

I went to this restaurant with my daughters for a birthday brunch and couldn’t have been more disappointed. I really don’t see how this place gets good food reviews. The service was ok.. The atmosphere ok. But the food! The potato casserole looked like a pile of vomit, the portions were too big it would have been impossible to eat it all .even if we had chosen to eat it. The food looked appetizing but it simply wasn’t. My coffee drink was so strong I couldn’t even drink it. It was $5. I came away having spent $ 120 for a lousy meal. Very disappointing will not return.

I wish I could say my husband and I had a better breakfast experience at Phoebe’s Diner. As for the diner atmosphere, the vibe was super cute and homey. As for the food, I ordered the Benedict with fried chicken instead of ham and my husband ordered the brisket burrito and the sourdough french toast. Now the sourdough french toast was AMAZING— light/fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. But the Benedict dish I had was overall too salty (chicken and sauce) and the biscuits were way too dry. The burrito that my husband ate made him question if he was biting into small bones from the brisket meat but after thorough investigation, it turns out it was just overly crisped hash brown pieces that were in there (yes, they were really that hard).
For context, we were one of the first customers that came in for breakfast as soon as they opened at 7am on a Tuesday so maybe the cook was a little sleepy? Not sure but still wasn’t an excuse to have paid about $55 for two meals we felt were inedible at the end and this is a lot to say for two people who are probably some of the least picky eaters you’ll meet.
