Best authentic Mexican food with a neighborhood vibe.
HAVE TO VISIT. Hole in the wall place that will take you by surprise. Their cuisine is authentic as it gets and their complimentary salsa is DA BOMB…aka award winning! Loved my food and their margs are to die for!

This is a genuine local hole in the wall. They don't get a lot of business so if you happen to come and it's a little more crowded, be patient with the one waitress taking care of everybody.
The food was great. The portions were very appropriate for the price.
I also love that they have a patio that you can take your dogs onto.
Parking: We found plenty of parking but it is a small parking lot.

It’s a hidden gem. This is the best Mexican food on south Lamar. Need to make the front of the building more inviting but the food and service is really good

If you want a unique, friendly, down to earth spot that’s local with south Lamar/Austin vibes, great food (reasonably priced) where you can bring your pup or pups to hang out; a place where friends catch up, have drinks and laugh, this is your place!!! Margarito is such a great guy with a beautiful soul, serving tasty foods and drinks. You will not be disappointed. Check them out!!!

We live in the Zilker neighborhood and this place does not get the attention it deserves. The food, drinks, and staff are top notch.
Definitely try the Puerco en Chili Colorado (pictured here). Both Moles are awesome as well.
Also get the signature 1816 marg!

This place has Bar Rescue written all over it… Absolutely gross. We had misgivings after walking in, they got worse when we sat down, and by the time our food arrived we all took a few bites and decided to get the check. Went to a different Mexican place down the street and started our meal over. Don't waste your time.
- Inside smelled bad, hot, poor ventilation
- Sat outside, table was sticky
- Server dripping in sweat
- Watery margs
- Brown guac
- Refried beans tasted burnt
- Chicken tasted like canned

Saturday my wife and I found this hidden jewel for lunch, on south Lamar. And I say it’s better than Fonda San Miguel. Our waitress Kaylie very knowledgeable about food. The presentation of the dishes we order were outstanding. My wife had the Cochinita Pibil and I had the Pollo en mole both dishes were fabulous, the margaritas well you will need to come taste them ( tamarindo ). We live in Leander we will be coming back. Do your self and friends a favor come and eat at this place. Also we had to take home an order of the home made corn tortillas and the Abor salsa
Don’t mind sign
