Long-time SquareRut fan here - LOVE the new location in the historic stone building. Very chill, very cozy and the kava is as tasty as always!

Because some people have developed severe liver damage, even liver failure, after taking kava, you should only take it under a doctor's close supervision. If you have liver disease (such as cirrhosis or hepatitis), you should not take kava at all.

I've been to over 150 kava bars in nearly 20 years and the kava at this bar is absolutely disgusting. They clearly don't know what they're doing. Insanely gritty and smells like DHM.Avoid.

This a is high vibration place, ? recommend to come here after work to decompress.Slight suggestion to decorate the tube by the coffee machine, maybe add green plants like in the front to match the vibe….

So my visit here was… interesting. I’m new to drinking kava and was stoked to learn of an actual kava bar in the city. I’m not an expert but the quality of the kava seemed good. The interior was also nice with a bar and plenty of tables.What really put me off was that both of the times I came here (both in the afternoon btw) the talk around the bar was pretty… unsavory let’s say. Maybe some would just write it off as bar talk- but as a place that probably would want to encourage newcomers it just feels like a weird vibe- especially when the bartender is telling the patrons a story about some stuff that should probably remain private… yeah, not interested in hearing that. Some people are coming for more of a coffee shop type feel or just to relax. The regulars and bar staff here seem kind of tight knit and maybe they’re just cool with that vibe, but I guarantee you it’s driving people away. I was excited to show this place to my friends, but sadly no longer.

Keep Austin weird vibes. I went on a Friday evening looking for a cool lounge for a date night. Someone recommended this place.There were no snacks which was disappointing. The staff seemed a little too low-key and uninformed and it was a little bit unusual to not menus.Website didn’t work for me- I wasn’t able to see what food and drinks are offered so I took a gamble. I didn’t want kava and was able to have plenty of other options so that was nice.Drinks- Kava, water, tea, kombucha and Yerba Mata. Food- nothing in the evening maybe there’s food during the day. Can’t say.

Adam is awesome, Lilly is silly, Gavin is a magician, Brad is rad, Cody is kava caring, Lauren is lovely. Kava available in all sizes for dine in or to go. Bring your food if you like and pets if they are super friendly and clean. Two guitars available for your musical pleasure.
