Everything was delicious! It looked so good I started in before taking pictures (sorry). It's so rare that just about everything looks awesome and tastes just as great as it looks. And the space is beautiful as well. What a delight!

Went there last night expecting to have hand made fresh tortillas and some nice tacos.
Disappointed that supposedly they change the menu for F1. No made to order tacos, only a taco platter with 6 tacos, no choice or options.
Ended up ordering a hamburger…you can’t hardly go wrong anywhere you go an order a burger.
It was just all right nothing to rave about.
But who goes to an authentic mexican restaurant to eat a hamburger. I had very little choice since they decided to forgo, their staple food.
They were also very proud of what they did.
Bad decision on their part.
Anyway…. Probably not going back… nor recommend it.
Too bad, since I am a fellow mexican I was expecting something good…ended up disappointed.

Truly blown away by the quality and flavours of the food - I am vegetarian and gluten free, and its hard to find food that’s so rich in taste, healthy, and delicious. The chef even came to the table to explain the dish and its flavours. Highly recommended!!

Everything at Tomalo Grill was perfectly curated - I'll be visiting again, especially for happy hours and casual business gatherings. We had a party of 8, and we sat at the high top table next to the bar. We loved everything, from the drinks, food, service, and atmosphere. As a designer, I'm picky when it comes to atmosphere, and this place is a 10/10 for me. 100% would recommend.

I’ve been in Austin for over 40 years and eaten all over this city. From food trucks to fine dining, and everything in between . I have had a wonderful experience every time I’ve been to Tomalo. My most recent visit was two week ago. I always try something different and I’ve never been disappointed. I’ll go back and cheer Tomalo on!

I recently visited Tómalo Grill, which used to be known as Bacalar, and I have to say, it’s become a go-to spot for me! Located near Rainey Street in a lively part of the city, the transformation into a more casual, fun place is spot on. The vibe is incredible—great lighting, seating, and an overall awesome ambiance.
The food? Absolutely bursting with flavor. Every bite felt like a kick to the mouth in the best way possible! We particularly loved the tacos, ceviche, chips and queso, and the chicken and mole. Everything was reasonably priced for the quality, which is always a plus.
We also had a few drinks, and they were just as impressive. The mojito was probably one of the best I’ve ever had, with a unique mint flavor that really stood out. The bar manager’s focus on sustainability was a nice touch, as every drink was made with both flavor and the environment in mind. They have the largest selection of Mexican wines in the city, which is great if you're a wine lover. Their happy hour is fantastic, especially on Wednesdays when they offer half-priced wine bottles.
Whether you sit indoors or outdoors, you’ll love the atmosphere. The staff was incredibly kind, and I can see this place becoming a regular spot for a lot of people. I’ll definitely be back, and if you're in the mood for a Modern Mexican experience, Tómalo Grill is the place to be!

We came here for brunch. The food was delicious- the carnita tacos were something to write home about and the michelada was among the best I’ve ever had. The decor is so nice and gives the place a nice vibe. Service was great. Be careful with the habanero sauce - it’s spicy !!

Bacalar use to be a favorite of my girlfriend and I, came tonight now that it’s reopened as Tómalo.
We were sat quickly, given water, then sat for 25 minutes without any service. Never got to order drinks, or dinner. Trying to flag down servers to no avail, we left.
Bacalar will be greatly missed.

Dog friendly patio that has a nice view of the riverside trail and park. The carne asada is great and always a safe bet, but give the carnitas a try. This place has great carnitas! Oh if you are weak to spicy, might want to have them tone it down a little else you will be sweating bullets.
