Beautiful restaurant but food left much to be desired. My fish was dry. Churros were burnt. Service was poor. The young man waiting on us did not refill our water glasses.

Took a gamble on an “off the beaten path” restaurant for a business dinner. Turned out to be one of the better meals in a long time for all in the group. Wonderful, attentive service by all, but particularly by our waiter, One. Extremely unique and creative dishes. Wonderful taste. And a great cocktail/wine selection. Top notch dining experience.

Great food and beautiful venue. The service was perfect. We stay outside, but upon entering the place, we noticed a very low noise level. Definitely recommended.

Everything was phenomenal. I honestly wasn't expecting this level of quality. The attention to detail and care for their guests really stood out. The appetizers were fantastic and perfectly portioned. I ordered the tenderloin—something I usually don't get—and it was a bit more rare than I prefer (which my partner assured me is normal for that cut). I asked if it could be cooked a little longer, and they brought out an entirely new steak cooked to perfection. They even removed it from the bill, which wasn't necessary but speaks volumes about how much they prioritize customer satisfaction. Exceptional food and even better service!!

This lovely restaurant has yet to reach the popularity it deserves. We luve in the neighborhood so we are regulars. New Year upgraded manu was great and the place was alive and kicking, hopefully the holiday traffic will give it the boost it deserves.

We absolutely loved our time at Tómalo! Highly recommend the margaritas, guacamole, and the barbacoa! Our server was fantastic and very attentive. A must see in Austin

There's no parking space, and the menu is quite limited — with a few items even unavailable from that small selection. The drinks were good, and the food was just okay. However, the staff rushed us to finish ordering before 10 PM, even though Google and OpenTable list the restaurant as open until 1 AM. There's definitely a lack of clarity about their actual hours.

Absolutely incredible experience at Tomalo!

Tomalo sets the bar for genuine hospitality in Austin. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted like family — every team member seems genuinely happy you’re there. The staff go above and beyond without ever feeling forced, and you can tell they take real pride in what they do. Our waiter Rudy was the star of the show, he went absolutely above and beyond. 10/10

The food and drinks are equally impressive — high quality, beautifully presented, and clearly crafted with care. Every detail, from the flavors to the atmosphere, feels intentional. It’s rare to find a place that nails both hospitality and quality this perfectly, but Tomalo does it effortlessly.

Whether you’re a local or visiting Austin, this spot is a must. You leave feeling taken care of — and already planning your next visit

This place is the worst place I’ve ever visited in my 36 years of existence on this planet. I think a trip on foot to the barren desert, in the year 1746, while occasionally stepping on legos would have been a more delightful experience.

Rudy is the worst server I’ve ever come across. I’m not sure if this guy has ever looked up the words “customer service” in his life but I think that would be a good start on his journey in the service industry. Or he should very thoughtfully rethink his life plan because the service industry is really not it for him.

We had reservations on a Saturday evening and I asked if they could make any sort of gin martini with some sort of flavor (a cucumber martini, etc.) and he very condescendingly said no multiple times and didn’t try the least bit to work with me on coming to a happy medium with what they could offer. He kept saying no like I was a moron and he kept repeating that none of their fruit offerings were fresh (I was looking at their other cocktail listed items for inspiration, for example: grapefruit) and he just kept saying everything was sweet and nothing would work. By the way, not having anything fresh is a huge red flag in itself. He was beyond rude and argumentative. This was our first impression of this place and we all just got up and left (we had just arrived).

I can completely understand not having the ingredients for something but his attitude was sooo unnecessary and just plain rude. He had zero desire to work with me. I’ve worked in the service industry before and I have never dreamed of treating a customer the way Rudy so easily treated me this evening. I would never return and will be sure to spread the word.

I recently dined at this restaurant with my family, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The customer service was the worst I have encountered in Austin. There was a clear lack of effort to listen or understand our requests.

The overall approach to customer service felt disorganized and dismissive, leaving us frustrated rather than valued as guests. My family’s experience fell far below any expectation we had before entering the establishment.

This restaurant desperately needs a serious overhaul in how it handles customer interactions, focusing on listening, understanding, and communicating effectively with patrons. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to others.
