Mediocre food and drinks. Not a place I'd recommend to someone given the abundance of better options around. The one advantage of this place is that it's open late if you need to sit down.

This place is so cute. And it is always a pleasure to end the weekend at this venue. The Sunday morning brunch is absolutely delicious. The staff is amazing and they ALWAYS have the best energy! I do have to say their Thursday music sessions in the cantina has a soulful approach which is recommended to anyone who enjoys live music. Amongst the heavenly taste of mezcal you can never go wrong with at least one margarita. For me at least I find it so very hard to just simply pass by because it is that delicious. I always recommend the mezcal Rita. It is my go to. I really do obsess over the taste. Oh yes, and the pozole is so recommended! Peace and love to all.

Fantastic brunch! We loved the quesadillas! I highly recommend Takoba.

To say Takoba has THE BEST MICHELADA IN AUSTIN does not say enough. Every time I go to Takoba I get the best service I’ve ever received. Either a family owns this place or they take such great care of their people that they have a limitless passion for client service. I should have written this review long ago; my boyfriend and I go to Takoba often and are never ever disappointed. Takoba also has the best Mexican Martini in the city and I do not take that point lightly. I scour the city of Austin for a better version and none exists. I’m so happy they came back after the renovation sabbatical. Both me, my boyfriend and my best friend (Murphy, boxer bulldog, 10 years today) have never received better service from any Austin establishment than Takoba. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Thank you, Takoba.

We had the queso as an appetizer with homemade corn tortillas which was a great way to start the meal. I had the 1/2 pound of pastor which was excellent! Quick service and free parking lot around the corner. Highly recommended!

This place is fantastic. Delicious food and great drinks. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're on the East side. The ceviche was delightful.

The sopes with banana chips. Absolutely mouthwatering. Also had a margarita and it was delicious. The only issue I had was reordering another drink, waited in line for like 10-15 min. Having a line for drink orders would be far more efficient.

I've been here twice already for brunch on a Sunday. Street parking is fairly easy around that time. It's a great place for a brunch spot. Plenty of seating though it's all essentially open, so it's not enclosed. It can get pretty busy after 12:30pm. You order at the bar, take a number, they bring your food. It all comes pretty quick. Mimosa is a good size and price to share with a small group. Equinox is their horchata/coffee which I really enjoyed. Not too sweet, just to my liking. Portions of food is quite large for the price. As for food, the Chilaquiles was a bit too salty for me though it was good. French Toast with the guava puree was interesting, but still tasty! If you get it, I would recommend a side of protein to balance the sweetness. I highly recommend the Breakfast Quesadilla. Absolutely delicious and huge portions.

Went for happy hour this Thursday -- 4-7. Happy Hour was half priced all food and half priced Margaritas, frozen guava drink, and 1.50 beer. Food was more authentic than your typical Tex-mex but was delicious. The guacamole and corn dip (I can't recall the name) we're both very good and the chips were thick and crunchy like they were hand-fried! I had the Mole which was a huge serving! I had the give the last corn tortilla and bit of meat away. The mole was mild (I wish it had a little more spice) and was serve with corn tortillas -- solid 9/10. The El Jimador margarita was a solid drink, not too sweet or sour... pretty much what we all appreciate in a marg and served with a spicy/salty rim. You order food and drinks at the bar and food runners bring them to you. Was not very packed at happy hour (surprisingly considering how cheap it was)! Wish I lived here so I could return often. -- update on this review that I wrote a year ago and never posted! I now live in Austin and tried this place again tonight. Sat on the patio with my dog, they had heaters. The service, food, and drinks were just as good as last time. Honestly one of the best happy hours I've been to.

Loved this place! The one side of the restaurant is completely open to the street and includes a cute patio so you can feel the lovely weather in Austin. The seating is self-serve booths and picnic bench tables; you order from their counter and the food/drinks are delivered to your table. Food was delicious and flavorful; I personally enjoyed the chicken gorditas which tasted authentic with a slight twist. Their micheledas are huge and spicy; highly recommend if you like bloody marys. Go during their happy hour right after work to get the most bang for your buck!

Service has never been stellar here but was really at the wheel of a struggle bus the few times I've been since it reopened. Note that this doesn't include the cantina next door, which I've only gone to once but had a great bartender. The sad thing is, the service was ungodly slow and half-assed even though there were about 90% people less than used to be there on a Friday night years ago. The menu and food are ok but somehow just seems/tastes less authentic. And yeah, the whole smaller portions and higher prices thing is another thing making me decide this place is a lost cause.

I've heard about this place for a long time and finally went over last night to grab a drink and little snack before a concert. Some highlights were the impressively friendly counter service, who let us know about salsa dancing on thursdays - which we will be coming to now! - and live music that happens throughout the week. Also noteworthy is how quickly the food came out and how delicious the esquites were. I thought the chips could've had a bit more flavor, but the various salsas definitely helped that. The margarita also packed some great flavor. I definitely want to come back and experience their happy hour prices (lots on that menu!) and try brunch sometime.
