Sam’s Boat has officially lost the plot. This used to be my go-to: casual, simple menu, not pretentious, not pricey, and consistently good. Today? Fuhgeddaboudit.
The Boat as it is now known - straight outta Houston has now entered crawfish season (my favorite season), and they have always had some of the best crawfish. Not so much. I’ll let the crawfish slide since it’s early in the season, but the redfish? Overcooked, dry, and honestly should never have left the kitchen. The most flavorful thing on the table was the green beans that came with it.
And the price? $26 for that sad little piece of fish. $26.00. I’m guessing the Domain-adjacent location is why the pricing is so outrageous, because the quality sure doesn’t match it.
Service was basically nonexistent — having to go to the bar to grab my own beer is a real turn-off when I’m sitting in a dining room paying sit-down prices.
This restaurant is understaffed, overly full of itself, and I’ve had my last meal here. I’ll stick with places like Shoal Creek Saloon and Deckhands — places that still know how to serve good food at reasonable prices.

Came in on a busy night. The host was really nice and sat us right away. I forgot our server’s name, but they were really great. Our group ordered a large amount of food and everything was delicious. They charge a 20% gratuity on bills that are $100 or more. They probably have this policy because there are a lot of bad tippers out there who will tip you $5 on a $100 check. If you get offended by this 20% policy, you’re probably not a good tipper.

What should have been an enjoyable night was dampened almost entirely by the behavior of the manager, Lauren. When we arrived, we were left waiting while she sat at the bar scrolling on her phone. There was no sense of urgency or awareness, and when she eventually seated us, her attitude felt irritated and unprofessional.
Throughout the evening, she remained glued to her phone at the bar, only getting up briefly to do a mandatory table check. It didn’t feel like genuine concern for the dining experience, but rather a box she needed to check in order to enforce the automatic 20% gratuity policy. When I asked about this directly, her response was defensive and rude, telling me the policy was posted everywhere instead of handling the question with any level of courtesy.
We were more than willing to tip beyond the automatic gratuity, but the way this policy was carried out completely ruined that intention. The unfortunate part is that the people actually doing the work are the ones affected, while management behavior goes unchecked.
Restaurants live and die by leadership. The food and service were fine, but poor management creates a negative atmosphere that no menu can fix. If this kind of behavior continues, it’s going to cost the restaurant loyal customers very quickly.

We had a very nice meal here. The blackened catfish tacos and shrimp quesadillas were both very good. The chicken wings are also excellent, especially the garlic parm. Honestly better than Pluckers. Nice beer selection too. The kids also love the boat playscape, the kids meals are a good potion, and the service was very friendly and quick throughout. This place is pretty underrated.

Just need to say that their published All Day Happy Hour on Mondays (including yesterday, Mon., Dec. 23rd) does NOT include food items, as we thought it did. We drove alllllll the way up there to get $1 oysters on the half shell, but then were told that their published All Day Happy Hour on Mondays is only for Drink Specials. Look on their website. It says Mon Dec 29th all day happy hour. Don't be misled as we were: it's only for drinks! I'm sure their oysters are probably delicious (and affordable) from 4-7 pm, but we drove ourselves over to Captain Benny's and had their dozen special all day for $15. ANYWAY, better luck next time, The Boat.

Such an excellent and varied menu. I recommend the shrimp sampler with 4 varieties of shrimp preparations. They often have great live music. If there is a game on TV they show it and have a good drink special. Great beer and cocktail selection. Also they have quite a few arcade games including 2 pinball machines, golden tee and classic video games like ms. pac man and galaga and area 51. They have a great playground outside with a big pirate ship playscape near the stage. Awesome service with friendly wait staff and bartenders.

Very cool place. It's kinda off in knook by itself. I like this they are also genuinely per friendly, as we brought our dog and he was not frowned on at all. They even offered him water and a little snack. The draft selection is not simply large, but rather it's large while filled with quality brews. And the food is wHat a Joe's crab shack wishes their food to be, and that's good. The patio is phenomenal. I look forward to returning here.
