The food: presentation and flavor are beyond compare. The quality was amazing! The ambiance was wonderful and historical. I was the only person dining, so the service was a little slow considering- but she was awesome. Highly recommend. Quantity of the food seems small for the price, but the food is filling.
Ribeye steak was a very thin cut. Salads were great and chocolate cake dessert was wonderful. Server was very good. Chose this historic hotel since it is touted as the site for LBJ and Lady Bird's first date but no one knew anything about it at the restaurant. And they had no record of our reservation however we were immediately seated because there were few diners in the restaurant.
Overall we really enjoyed our dinner. The Caesar salad and the scallop starter stood out as our favorites, and the steak & frites were also very good. The duck fat latkes were also very good but needed a sauce or something with them. Lobster bisque was good but nothing special as was the chocolate dessert. Restaurant ambience was a big contrast to the bar. Almost a little too quiet. Our server was mostly attentive and very pleasant. The manager was actively helping with service...
