My favorite sandwich place in Austin. Feels local. Ingredients are always fresh. Bread is not sweet like Subway's. Nice people. Lots of sandwhich options and extras. My go-to sandwich shop.

I came in a little early to my order being ready, as I was on my way to work. I notified them I was there for an online order, was told it wasn’t ready… totally understandable. A minute later, Older guy addresses me with a shitty attitude stating he doesn’t know “what that means” when I mention that I’m there for an online order.. doesn’t sound like my problem. Then goes off about how my order isn’t set to be ready until 10:45 (it was 10:30) ….. okay and then? Guy seemed visibly stressed out, and that’s understandable… but that’s not the customer’s problem. Specially not one who is silently minding his own business.. which is the main reason I feel compelled to writing this review.
Do better for the sake of the individuals who have to work alongside your self inflicted challenges and difficult personality.

I love thundercloud subs. I’ve been going for the past 12 years. Always fresh and a great place for a sub. While there are many sub places to choose from, thundercloud is an Austin staple. Unfortunately, my experience at this particular location was less than subpar. The person who greeted me was super disrespectful and quite frankly left a bad taste in my entire experience. So badly that I actually took my business over to pterrys across the street. Bad attitude, worse customer service. I cannot believe I was talked to in that way. He had longer black hair and kind of short. I could tell he seems to come off as standoff ish often as I can tell his coworkers seem to notice the disrespect as well. But nothing was done.

Solid Italian sub/hoagie.... I went double meat for the extra $2 something. Sub was loaded at that point. Bun was fresh and hit the spot. Oil and vinegar was unique in flavor and quite good. Quick service... No complaints.
The dude making the sandwich was very laid back and helpful. It's not a subway which to me is awesome. Feels like a an old school sub shop not an assembly line..

You can never go wrong with Thundercloud. So many choices and they are all so good. I think my favorite sandwich is the Lady Bird. No matter the location it has the same quality and taste.

I recently visited this Austin-based sub chain to satisfy my sub cravings and ordered the Veggie Delite Sub. It included cream cheese, avocado, sprouts, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, mushrooms, and black olives on wheat bread. Despite claims of freshly baked bread, it came from a large transparent plastic bag, which made it seem less fresh. The sandwich was served cold and not toasted, with only salt and pepper as the dressing, which made it taste somewhat bland, similar to Jimmy John’s.
I appreciated the cream cheese, but the overall flavor profile was lacking without additional dressing options. The provolone cheese added some richness, but it didn’t quite elevate the sub to the level I expected. Having been accustomed to the variety of dressings and bold flavors available at Subway, this sub felt underwhelming in comparison. It seems this place caters more to American tastes, favoring simpler, milder flavors.
While the quality of ingredients was decent, the sub didn’t stand out enough to make me want to return. I was hoping for a more flavorful and satisfying experience. Overall, I’d rate it 3.5 stars for the good ingredients but lack of flavor variety and fresh presentation. It was an okay experience, but not one I’m eager to repeat.

Rare I would write a review about a sandwich but this one was worth it. I'm from San Antonio but had a specialist appointment here and wanted to try something different from what we have in SA and I'm so happy I did.The bread is soft, fresh and delicious. They have great, unique toppings. Veggies were fresh. If I ever come here again, I would get double meat tho. That's the only reason I took off one star, definitely not for food quality.

Mr. T particularly enjoyed the Italian sub. He thought it was bone shatteringly delicious. Definitely worthy of five juicy bones.
