Absolutely phenomenal chicken. Juicy and flavorful even before you add the addictive peri peri sauce. The sides are also delicious, the rice with corn and the mashed potatoes round out the meal

The menu revolves around peri peri chicken, which is a essentially grilled chicken accompanied by various spicy sauces. The food was perfectly adequate but nothing to write home about. It's not better or worse than any other fast casual restaurant when you're in a pinch and need a quick meal. The restaurant was completely empty on a Sunday as I guess this place is mostly focused on takeout now. There was no atmosphere and it felt very weird eating in an empty building.

The sides here are relatively bland and flavorless. I feel with the price you pay for the meal, the sides should be higher quality. The garlic sauce I tried with the meal tasted good though.

The past times that we have visited the restaurant has been phenomenal. However, this last time it was not. The table we choose had ants or some type of bug crawling around. My fiance found us another table that ssemed free of pests. The food was not sufficient for the amount of money charged. $50 bucks for a whole chicken and 6 chicken wings, and a glass of wine. The glass the wine was served in were not clean. I ordered a glass of wine that I was not familiar with and I ended up not liking it. I asked for a replacement, even though the glass only had one sip from it. I was told that I would have to pay for a new glass. My fiancé was not satisfied with his meal either. The portion of rice given with his order was for a toddler, not for a grown man that can eat. So, with our combined disappointment we will not be patronizing Tio Pepe for a while. It seems the quality of food and the service has depreciated drastically.

Frozen chicken patties and frozen French fries. I could have done better at home, but thought ordering out would be a good solution after working all day. Edible, but a slap in the face.

Sorta meh! I usually over order so my buddies at work can share. Not so much at this Tio Pepe's. The flavors were ok. I guess I need to try it again. I thought the prices were a little high, and the quantity a little lacking. I'll get back on the review.

To claim chicken in Peri Peri Portuguese style is a disservice to the real deal. These people have no freaking idea what Portuguese style is. Needless to say that chicken is not cooked like this one and then fire roasted so the skin is crispy. Chicken was just warmed up when it came to us and bland. Go to New Jersey and get the real Portuguese style chicken. Very disappointed.

Great food! Definitely recommend anyone looking to try out new food to come and eat here! The cream soda bevs are delicious as well, along with the deserts!

Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The chicken was grilled perfectly with crispy skin on the outside and juicy tender meat on the inside. The staff was also very friendly.

I've had Tio Pepe a few times. Preparation takes longer than you'd expect and they've forgotten my sauces twice. But what I really don't understand is: what makes them special besides the availability of Peri Peri sauce? The chicken is good, but no better than a $5 rotisserie from Costco or Central Market. The sides are basic and cheap, like you might find in plastic clamshell boxes at the grocery store: fries, "roasted veggies" (really just undercooked broccoli), corn on the cob, rice, mashed potatoes — nothing to celebrate. And they include only one by default. (Who is ordering a 1/2 chicken with solely rice?) That makes their price point high, and their plates fairly boring. I so badly want them to Do More, because nothing says comfort food like a platter of juicy chicken, tasty sauce and some well-executed side dishes.

This review was prompted by my wife, who has been ordering Tio Pepe for the the past year or so. She mentioned it a lot, and when I managed to come back home to Austin, TX, she said, "Hey, I am going to order some Tio Pepe Chicken, it is fantastic." Loving my wife and knowing she knows best, I said, "Ok, sounds great." Little did I know my wife had found a treasure in Austin, TX. Not only because of the fantastic food, but because they have exceptional delivery in the vicinity of the down town and up town areas. To add to the excitement, she ordered delivery on Wednesday before a certain time (I forget) which including a nice discount. Either way, I was impressed by the fact that they delivered grilled chicken sandwiches to die for, salads, and portuguese style whole chickens, as well as many other items that were delicious. Not to mention, their sauces are spectacular and they have many. And when ordering, if you like yogurt style dips with pita, definitely try the Jocoque with pita. It is fabulous. My wife gets it all the time, and I am now a fan, so we get two. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to enjoy this new Austin establishment, and just so you know, we continue to order from them. I am looking forward to tomorrow's lunch, as it is Wednesday, and my wife is ready to feed me.

This is a place I would like to come again for food. I'm always a fan of peri peri chicken and I miss Nando's occasionally. Tio Pepe does a great job and also able to keep the price low. For $9 you get a meal of 1/4 chicken and i can share a 1/2 chicken with my friend for only $16. But you know, the reason I give 5 is not just because of the price. Their chicken is very moist. And they can do half flavor on one side and half on the other. Although I have to say, I think the spicy level of the chicken and the sauce is a bit lower than the ones I had. I was also very impressed by their corns! Service is great and you don't need to wait long for food. It's pretty fast!

The chicken was excellent and the atmosphere was even better. Glad to see Halal options in Austin

Best chicken in town, for my taste. To me it's comfort food, you can spice it up whichever way you want it, as the sauces here are amazing, but I like keeping mine plain and simple

I have a love for Nando’s Peri Peri chicken so we tried Tio Pepe to satiate my cravings. The chicken itself was bland so they should consider brining the chicken first. That would help significantly. Sauces are good but nothing compared to Nando’s. Great service though and very friendly!
