We went to Trudy’s for the first time in over a year and were insanely disappointed. I’ve been coming to Trudy’s for over 10 years and it’s so sad to see what the new owners have done to such a poppin spot. No more awesome local art on the walls. Drinks are hit or miss, for our table they were mainly a miss. We sent a weak Bloody Mary back and the mezcal margarita back. The cucumber strawberry margarita was the only one that was amazing. Trudy's North Star is a chill and clean restaurant with decent food and an excellent jalapeno margarita. The service can be slow, but the $1 mimosa brunch is a highlight. While the atmosphere is great, the quality of the food has declined over the years. However, the upstairs bar is an awesome spot for events with attentive service. The stuffed, fried avocado and botana sampler are fantastic, with the flautitas being the star of the show. The homemade tortilla soup and two different salsas are delightful. The Mexican martinis and friendly atmosphere make it a great spot, especially with the dog-friendly patio. The brunch buffet is back at $15.99, though the selection is small and some items like the fried fish or chicken weren’t hot. Still, the service is good, and the vibes are even better.
