It's over priced for mediocre sushi. I ordered takeout but briefly scoped out the dining and bar areas. It looks okay--not fine dining, but more comfortable than a casual restaurant.

Let's be honest. When you want good food, Beaumont, TX is not where you go. There is very little to offer regarding great cuisine. All hail the food Gods and let us give thanks for Koi!Tucked away, almost unnoticeable, is this fantastic Japanese inspired establishment. We ran into it by a happy accident. While not a large restaurant by any means, it it put together extremely well! The layout and decor is ambient and modern. The service was impeccable! Our server was Victoria- a very polite and charismatic young lady. Victoria knew the menu very well and took extra special care to accommodate my wife's food allergies- which is not common in this community. Our food consisted of Beef and chicken yakatori, salads, Sushi, and Beef Tenderloin Teriyaki with fried rice. The food was absolutely amazing. It was fresh, vibrant, and the Tenderloin Teriyaki was cooked to absolute perfection. The sushi was also fresh, and possessed exquisite flavor with the combination of the spices used.Fried rice is typically cooked in bulk. It can be dry and unpleasant. This fried rice was a fantastic compliment to my dish. It was cooked to order. Perfect! It was beaming with flavor and I loved it!We lived in Denver for many years. The Denver area is really a Renaissance of fine delicious food that has really made its mark in the restaurant industry. KOI could quite easily settle in a larger metropolitan area and compete just fine. The food was delicious. The service outstanding! You can tell these owners care about what comes out of that kitchen, and that my friends, deserves praise. Considering there isn't much at all in this area, I imagine we will eat here habitually for some time! Well done, KOI! 4.25 from this dining connoisseur!Eric and Tara!!

While this place is small and intimate and perfect for a date night, girls night, or happy hour, they welcomed us with our three young children for a delicious night out. We have high standards, especially for sushi, as we are from Austin. We had spicy edamame, the Koi salad, spider roll, $2 nigiri of all varieties on happy hour, miso soup and finished it up with a Cajun roll, which was warm and cozy. The kids shared a chicken teriyaki hibachi and the flavors were amazing. The quality of all the raw fish was top notch. We had a great bottle of cold sake at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be back! Haley was our server, and she was very professional and on top of all of our needs, despite being hit with the rush all at the same time. Definitely go give Koi a visit! You won't regret it.Kid-friendliness: Not a family spot in nature but they had a high chair and were welcoming to our family with three young children.

Ordered take out. After seeing all there glorified pics of food on their Google page, looked like a nice place to get decent food. WRONG, very wrong, their food is absolutely pitiful. Small portions, over pricing like crazy, no flavor at all everything extremely bland and over cooked. Spent $100 between two people and got hot garbage scraps for dinner.

It was my fault for not following my first gut instinct. Any sushi place that focuses on their bar and cocktails over food quality should be avoided. I should have just ordered a couple of pieces of sushi and a roll to assess the quality. I took a chance and spent over $100 on what I would call 'gas station' sushi. We are very new to the area coming from another state where we enjoyed really high quality sushi. Admittedly, the bar was set pretty high and I was disappointed. My order was a pick up order, so I can't comment on the table service, ambiance etc. The fish portions are tiny. Half the size of what we are used to. The quality is just OK. The rolls were equally tiny. The rice had the texture of being steamed not the same day. They were out of a quite a few things missing and I received no phone call to sub or cancel the whole thing which I wish I could have done. It was requested that we schedule our order nearly an hour ahead because it was 'so large'. That is pretty hilarious since it all fit in a small plastic grocery bag. An experienced sushi chef could have put it together in less than 30 minutes. We got 15 sets of chopsticks (not requested) and ONE tiny cup of ginger with wasabi that's not enough for even one person. Also included were 20+ packs of LOW SODIUM soy sauce - yuck - which went right into the trash along with the chopsticks. Luckily I always have real soy sauce on hand. No, we won't return. Just really sad that this was our first sushi in Beaumont and I suspect we will have to drive to Houston to get the real deal. EDIT: just received a notice from a Layla person telling me my order was done 'late' which was stupid because couldn't even place the online order until the restaurant reopened at 4:30. She also told me sushi should be consumed 'immediately' or some such BS. I wasn't going to go here but I have been eating sushi since I was a kid and I am now in my 60's. I have also made my own sushi, have had a lifetime interest in the traditions and techniques when it comes to sushi. I am also a retired personal chef. You cannot school me on this one. Your sushi sucked. End of story.

I can't believe this place isn't packed with people. The food here is so much better than other places. From the fried rice to the house salad, sushi , sashimi... etc. Everytime I come here I am completely satisfied. They always provide the best service, and the food is on point. Can't be compared to Tokyo because they are in a league of their own.
