Rao’s has an old fashioned welcoming atmosphere with lots of home gifts for sale and ample parking. \nThere’s an expansive bakery selection, given a table number stand, friendly staff bring meals to table, solid wood dining inside the medium sized restaurant. A private room flanks one end with a long farm table, separate round tables, while small hostess stands adorned with cutlery, beverage dispenser, and await serve guests. You must obtain a restroom key from the staff....
So we sampled some of their desserts at the Baptist Hospital of SE and they are delicious! They included: the double decker M&M cookie sandwich and chocolate pie with whipped cream. Highly recommended!
I have tried almost every. Single. Item on this menu over the past 2 years. Everything is divine.
BUT if I could beg them to tweak ONE thing- as a fellow baker- the cheesecake fillings. I’m not sure why it hasn’t been fixed already, but it needs a tad bit of sweet and condensed milk and some lemon juice to make it actually taste like cheesecake. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten a chunk of plain of cream cheese while testing the desserts.
