The food was great! The service excellent! The only reason for three instead of five stars is they have inadequate ac. 2 window units are just not enough for this space especially if it's crowded.

On a recent trip down to the coast we made a plan to stop in Blessing to eat at this historic place and it did not disappoint. We were greeted as we walked in and were told to "Grab a plate and help yourself." Lunch was a large buffet with enchiladas, tamales, fried fish and all sorts of homemade sides. It would be very difficult to find food this good for only $14 a person. It is cash only so be prepared when you come.

Had a great lunch at the Blessing Hotel and Coffee shop! Awesome food and lots of it! Better be ready to eat when you visit this place!

Nice iconic Texan Hotel, really good home made brunch, only con is the eating area doesn't have a good AC it was some ceiling fans but was not enough for the room in the hot day we were visiting.

My wife and I recently stopped by Hotel Blessing for lunch. The hotel serves a daily lunch buffet with homecooked meals even better than grandma's. The selection of main dishes are rotated daily; on the day we visited, they were serving meat loaf, southern beef hash, and chicken fried steak. My favorite was the meat loaf. They also serve an abundance of vegetable selections (e.g., southern style green beans, corn, pan fried potatoes, etc.), salad, homemade rolls and cornbread, desserts, coffee and tea. On the day we visited, the restaurant was serving peach cobbler and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Both excellent. If you're traveling between Houston and Laredo, or vacationing along the Texas coastal bend, a visit to this restaurant is well worth the trip.

Self-serve home cooking! The day we were there, a Monday, we had fried chicken, sausage, beef tips in gravy, and the best squash and pinto beans. Found some gravy on the back stove when I went back for another small piece of chicken. I always eat here when I'm in the area.

Terrible the lady that runs the hotel was very rude . She says she is a Christian well honey she needs to read the Bible some more . Because the way she talked to my husband and I when we asked her questions was not Christian like. Did not tell us you have to share bathroom with someone else, and the cable or whatever it was was sorry had problems . The room smelled musty and it WAS DIRTY. Broken handle bathroom faucet. We drove far to stay their and got their early . You think since their was nobody in the room she would let us check in early other hotels do. But she rudely kept saying 11am ck out and ck in is at 2pm . Well they can keep THAT DUMP HOTEL WE WILL NEVER BE BACK. Plus I was talking to my husband about next time we will stay in Palicus next time we come down. And that come flying out of her BAT COVE ROOM and said oh it seems like you don't like it here refunded our money . That is THE BEST THING AND ONLY THING SHE DID GOOD. The ladys in the kitchen were very friendly and the food was wonderful. Maybe The Hotel lady needs to take some lessons from them about being nice .

Stopped by for lunch. Reminded me of the weekends at the relatives. Good old-fashioned food and plenty of it. I didn't stay at the hotel.

They are open for breakfast and lunch only. It is $14 for all you can eat homemade food and it is absolutely great. I met my dad there for lunch on Thursday which was fried chicken day with all the trimmings. The fried chicken was great and was accompanied by mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, homemade rolls and peach cobbler. There were many other vegetables and even a salad bar. I ate so much I didn't even eat supper that evening. I will definitely be coming back this place was wonderful. The hotel is extremely old and has been there since the horse and buggy days. The original front desk and check in are still used just like in the old west movies. Anyone coming through has got to stop and check this place out. I would even make a trip to come eat and stay here.

Can't rate this place from the hotel standpoint as we didn't stay, however the food is delicious home cooked and very fairly priced. Less than most restaurants. We will be going back!!

Traveled 64 miles for the historic hotel restaurant buffet. Not much to look at. Friday lunch included fried catfish, tamales, enchilada casserole (?)and something similar to beef stew. The tamales looked like Wal Mart tamales. The fish was ok but should have been fried a little longer. The so called casserole was ground beef smothered with cheddar cheese. The stew was excellent. Veggies included pinto beans, rice, corn spinach, Mac and cheese,& green beans. All were ok but poorly seasoned. Salad area and desserts were ok. With all that, my biggest complaint.....NOTHING WAS HOT. Too far to drive for warm /cold food.

A pretty little hotel. We were there for the lunch buffet - $16 per plate with a choice of three meats and plenty of sides. Staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend a visit.
