We stopped by when passing through on a trip to Houston. The signs are very not easy to see and we passed it. The place didn't look promising on the outside, but we decided to give it a try. It took some time for a waitress to come to our table and it also took some time to get our food once we ordered. Well, it was all worth the wait. The food was great. Burgers were delicious! I appreciated that they gave me an extra side when I ordered my burger bun-less. I had very low expectations for the side of green beans. But, Holy Moly ...... they were amazing! They reminded me of Mon's bacon green beans.......but BETER!!!! We couldn't resist trying some cookies and pie. The coonie pie is delicious. We were surprised, however, when they told us they didn't have Ice cream. That's a necessity with a piece of pecan pie! We are making the trip from Austin to Houston again next weekend and might have to stop in again.

After the last 2 visits I won't be back. Food use to be good. Today's visit breakfast: under cooked everything, took forever, and food was ice cold, biscuits were left over from yesterday, and not even reheated. Last visit dinner: pretty much the same stuff, waited an 1.5 hrs, listen to the cook yelling in the back about how good he was, and his tip out better be good all while we are waiting for our food. Only wish he cared about the quality of the food half as much as he cared about his tip. Seems like the attitude in the kitchen is contagious to the wait staff. My suggestion fire the kitchen staff and start over. Sad to see the staff in the kitchen ruin this place.

Stopped by this place after our camping trip and before heading home to Houston. Service was just okay but understandable since it was Sunday. But no excuse for our food to be served cold. Every single plate was cold. Mentioned it to the waitress and all she did was apologize. I won't return to this place and I do not recommend.

First off the food is really good! We have been there twice. I love the old school bus seats at their booths. Creative idea. I would change only 1 thing. Perhaps they could get some kind of pest control. There are flies buzzing around constantly when you are trying to eat. Also ya'll get a better sign on the highway. Don't hide your gem :)

Don't recommend!! We were sat and ordered our drinks, they were out of tea and said they would make some. We waited 30 mins. No one came to take our order or bring us tea. Everyone claimed to be "new" and had no idea what they were doing. The place is a complete joke. And they had wrote all over the menu with markers. So if you look online-add $3 to everything to get the correct price. We got up and left after sitting for 30 mins.

Smittys will give you shi**ys. Ordered the yardbird firecracker style. Yikes. The tough undercooked chicken (pink in the middle) was extremely wet and nasty. The sides were cold and the okra must be store bought frozen section. Trying to get service is tough after placing an order. I sat next to some ladies who said the cookies look half cooked so that said a lot for me. I don’t plan on returning. Check your food!

I had the cowboy burger and it was a good bite. The toasted sourdough bun was phenomenal. The beef patty was juicy and crispy. The homemade fries just topped off the burger basket to complete a good experience. I highly recommend Smitty’s whenever you’re close to Brenham.
Really great place to stop when traveling on US 290. Their Country Breakfast is delicious and don't miss their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

This place is incredible. My wife ordered the Ruben. She said it’s the best Ruben that she’s ever had. It was so good she ordered one to go to have for dinner tonight. I had Hanna’s Mac Attack.. it was amazing!! Our kiddos had the kids burger and the chicken strips. The breading on the chicken was very flavorful. We are visiting from out of town, but we will definitely be coming back here next time we’re in town.

When this wonderful restaurant was downtown Brenham, we were there at least 2 Sundays a month. They moved to their 290 location and have given their customers a larger dining area, they do not disappoint. Many must haves on their menu, however the Chicken Fried Steak any-day (Or Wednesdays) is hands down the best next to making it at home! Wish the 290 Had a full bar, however that won't keep this family from enjoying the wonderful food!

My husband, son and I just left after a great dinner! First time eating here: Hisband got the fried pork chop and ate every bit of it, Son got chicken tenders which was basically a whole chicken breast- more than enough, my Cobb salad was fresh and enough to feed 3! The waitresses were so sweet and very attentive. Everything about this place was awesome!!!
