I have finally been here!!!! The barbacoa is on point. We had the cachete lengua mix. You can definitely tell the quality of their cooking skills. It was perfect on a tortilla with the cilantro and cebolla and salsita. The meat texture was on point and the service was incredible. Super nice people and the owner told some time out to allow us to take a selfie. I ate ojo for the first time and it was so good. My father in law talked about knowing the owners dad. A great place for the food and the experience. You have to come. Same place it’s been at for decades!!!!

Vera's has some of the best barbacoa in the RGV. It's surprising that not many people know of this place. The barbacoa is made in el poso (hole)which helps the flavor concentrate. They offer menudo, carnitas, brisket and of course barbacoa. Best place to take the family to in the weekend!

The most horrible tasteless barbacoa I have ever tasted in my life! The meat smelled like dead animal. No one could stand the smell. I Picked up 2 pounds of barbacoa cachete tel packaged of tortilla, salsa, and cilantro/onion combo. This will be the last time ever coming to this place. Disgusting!

I don’t recommend anyone to make any orders day(s) in advance with this business. I call a day in advance to place my order for a birthday party that I was having. Which obviously was a big order. The business to where we live is an hour drive. We get there 30 minutes in advance, just to be told there is no order in my name. I then speak to the cook and was told that he saw my order but no one told him to make it. Very bad experience with this business. Now I am left with no food for my guests and waisted my gas and time. I had high hopes but was failed. I will not support a business who doesn’t have the communication skills with their employees. Very unprofessional. Will not come back here again.

My mouth waters when I think of this place. Saw this on the Texas Bucket List show, and my husband and I gave it a try. Truly the best cachete (cheek meat from a cow) I've ever had! The staff is above and beyond. Mr. & Mrs. Vera are down to earth and make their customers feel welcome and appreciated. Only open Friday thru Sunday till 2:30. GOTTA TRY IT!

I regret not having visited Vera's until recently despite having moved to the valley 4 years ago. The food here is absolutely fantastic from the meats to the salsas, and the staff is extremely friendly. I spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon here enjoying the delicious food with a friend, and we both agreed to return visits!

The barbacoa is really good possibly the best in the valley but really expensive plus they'll charge you a fee (percentage) if you use a credit/debit card. Carnitas are good also especially with their variety of salad (mild to spicy) don't disappoint. The menudo not so good so stay away for it lol. Service is fast and drive thru lines are sometimes long but moves pretty quick.
