This is a nice restaurant with great staff. The meal was pleasant and tasty but they could not accommodate meatless shrimp and grits which was disappointing. Overall it was a good experience but not worth the drive.
We went to Campfire for a brunch for Ring Day celebration. We reserved a table for five and they sat us at a both and added a table and the end of the both. We had to play musical chairs until everyone was comfortable. We looked around and larger tables were available the entire time we were there. Out waiter did not bring the sweet and low as we asked. He took a long time refilling our drinks and kept apologizing. At one point he just left the picture of water at the table we are assuming he got tired of refilling. My husband's meal was missing sides. The waiter took a long time to give us our tickets and never asked if we wanted a drink to go or a refill before we left. He handed me an unsweet tea and said it was a Diet Coke. He handed my daughter a tea and said it was sweet but it was not she ordered a sweet tea. With the service we received I would not recommend Campfire to a friend or family.
The food was great. The service was not. It was apparent they knew they were receiving automatic gratuity. The water was rarely filled. The coffee was lukewarm. I had to ask for creamer twice. There were no check ins outside of the initial seating and ordering. They ran out of apple juice. They did not have any kid menus to color on. I would not pay these prices again for the sub part service received. I cannot recommend this restaurant to others.
Food was fantastic as always! Bar service was a little slow and maybe would have enjoyed if there were a few outdoor heaters scattered around the patio. However Brittany, our server, was AMAZING!! She made for a memorable evening!!
Food was just okay. Shrimp cocktail was grilled shrimp...wedge salad was interesting with pecans. Crab cakes appetizer was okay, but $30 was a bit expensive. Menu is limited.
Restaurant was amazing. Food was spectacular and service was unforgettable! Our server personally made us feel welcome and walked us through the entire menu as well as their specials. He was very personable and even made great suggestions! Looking forward to coming back!
There was a set menu for over $100 a person that was not advertised on their website or OpenTable. When asked why we didn't know about it they said they called reservations to tell everyone who had booked. I never received a call so we had an uncomfortable experience moving around the restaurant to have access to their limited bar menu. The server was very friendly but my steak was cooked medium well-well when I ordered rare. The drinks were good and food was decent. The manager did provide chocolate covered strawberries to compensate for the evening which was very kind and appreciated.
Terrible service, wrong amounts on checks and to top it all off much of the food was not even mediocre! I wouldn't go here again for any reason!
I have been here on a few different occasions. It is classy and chic without making you feel uncomfortable. The staff was charismatic and friendly. Will 100% be back again!
My husband and I used to live in CS but moved a couple years ago. We decided to stay at the Stella hotel and it was beautiful! Mainly wanting to write this review for Hershel’s bartenders though! Even if you don’t stay at the hotel but go to this bar you will have an amazing night if Jesse or Taylor are there working. They were so professional and great at their jobs (try Jesse’s yummy spin on a whiskey sour!!) but my husband and I loved their company the most! We tried the other bar out as well which was nice but our favorite definitely was Hershel’s for the two behind the bar. Thanks for making our last night there so fun! Their managers should be very proud!! Live music was also a fun addition!

The blue cheese dressing is what makes us order the wedge every time. We did seafood, redfish, scallops and shrimp. Fresh, filling and nice presentation. We were pleased with the service and food as always.
This place has potential. Not sure how long it's been around but it seemed like the servers were still learning how to run the place. We waited about 20 minutes after ordering our drinks to be checked on. Even the manager came by to check on us, probably because of our confused looks. Then our server (and her trainee) came by and told us they were having problems with the computer/server and had to hand write everything (!). Fine, we can understand that, but *communicate* it to your guests! We are happy to extend grace in that situation. Don't just ignore us. Anyway, food was pricey, as others have mentioned, and portion sizes moderate to small. The one cooked cherry tomato plated next to the pork chop or steak was almost comical. Sides were good- we had the mac n cheese and the Parmesan fries. The s'mores dessert was really fun and a nice ending. The best thing about the place was the ambiance, and finding a part of C-Stat that seems to be newly developing around a nice little lake. Parking was a little confusing when we arrived though- numbers on the parking spaces that apparently don't mean anything, according to the restaurant host. lol
Portions are smaller than previously...shrimp and grits. Avocado toast was $14 for ONE piece of toast. Food was good but pricey for what you get. Server was great but the cooks were SLOW, and they weren't very busy. We ordered almost immediately/when server took our drink order and it took almost one hour to get our food. Not sure I will return again.
The overall experience was great. It seemed like they were short handed, as even with a reservation, we had to wait in line to be seated for 10 Minutes. We even arrived 15 min early to tell the hostess we here and we had to wait before she greeted us. I am not saying it was her fault, as lt looked like she was really busy.
When we travel to Bryan/College Station for a game, we have always looked forward to eating at Campfire. Unfortunately, this will be our last time. The prices are outrageous for the poor quality food and service. Even though the restaurant was not full, the service was extremely slow. Our appetizers sat in the pass for so long that they were cold when finally delivered. Then, because the appetizers were late, our meal was delivered within a couple of minutes of receiving the appetizers. No food pacing whatsoever. I ordered a ribeye and it was about a 1/2 inch thick and had no flavor. I ate about three bites, took the rest home and threw it in the trash - all for $65! Because of the delay, the server offered to take off the cheapest appetizer ($15) but when we received the bill, nothing had been removed. Since we were entertaining an out of state guest, we did not make a big deal out of the issues because we didn't want the guest to be uncomfortable. Overall, it was a very expensive, very disappointing meal. We won't be back.
