DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to ROUGH IT. The place feels abandoned. There are no signs and nothing indicating anything that park facilities other than basic camping are shuttered and unuseable. NONE of this information was on the website. GOOD: The observatory show! The rest: We arrived at 5:30 pm on Friday and didn’t see a single staff while we were there camping for 2 nights. We even tried to find staff at the resort, by walking around but the resort is closed. There isn’t a single sign there that says this and the information is not on the website. And we never saw a single staff or LEO the entire time we were there. Without a map it’s hard to find the campsites but we couldn’t find anyone to give us one. The couple of maps up at trailheads are woefully inadequate. The park store is closed. It’s identified as a park store but that’s about the only sign on the building. When you look inside it’s been emptied. The nearest ice is 30 minutes plus away. The beach is completely unuseable due to heavy machinery, including barges, working on it. The construction workers were the only people we could find at 5:30 on Friday and they have no information about what’s going on. Then early mornings we were treated to the sound of heavy machinery right at sun up. We drove an hour round trip to a different park to use the lake. Today we woke up to find no water in the restrooms in the few that were even open. Most were closed. Zero mosquito abatement around any of the facilities. There’s a burn ban, is on the website, while we did not have one, we saw multiple people with ground fires & charcoal grilling. This isn’t a huge issue for us but definitely a safety issue since there were zero staff. A lot of the trails that are labeled as open on the large maps at the amphitheater and butterfly trail head are either closed or completely unable to be located. More signage and better maps is woefully needed. We weren’t the only people who were equally baffled. We all tried to get information from each other. No one had any clue what we had all signed up for because none of it was online, communicated to us, or on any signs in the park.
Terry Holley posted that she worked here. She posts disgusting and vile things about women on Facebook and is proud of what she says. She doesn't post her own information but posts reviews, so here's one for her.
We recently had the pleasure of working at Canyon of the Eagles, and it was truly a dream come true. The view of the ceremony site is absolutely breathtaking — the kind that makes you stop and take it all in. With plenty of cabins for guests, a full-service restaurant, and both indoor and outdoor spaces, this venue has everything you need for a beautiful, seamless celebration. Our team provided Wedding Day of Coordinator services, assisting with setup of client and rental items, bussing, cake distribution, breakdown, and carefully packing and separating rentals. As a team, we were able to accomplish so much, ensuring the couple and their guests could simply enjoy the day. A special shoutout to Shelby, who led the venue side with the greatest attitude — it was such a pleasure working alongside her. The staff here is wonderful, and their professionalism made the day even smoother. We can’t wait to be back! If you’re considering Canyon of the Eagles for your wedding or event, book it — you won’t regret it.
The setting was nice but everything else fell way short. We made reservations for 830pm based on good reviews and the menu variety depicted on their Google listing. They never mentioned when we called they only had a buffet available that day and we traveled 40 minutes to get there then waited an hour until our reservation time. They seated us, asked us for our drink orders then told us it was buffet only. We were already there and it was late so we went with it. I got a coke and she brought it warm in a can with a glass of ice...not what I expected from a regular, nicer restaurant. The food was BBQ with chicken, brisket and sausage and then they had baked beans, cream of corn, potato salad, cornbread and peach cobbler for dessert. The food was ok. Nothing special but not bad either. We finished eating and my wife went to pay. It took her 10 minutes to pay because she was obviously arguing about something. Turns out the basic buffet cost us $150 for 4 people with one coke and 3 waters. The waters were supposed to have lemon in them but they put limes instead. The restaurant is supposed to be about the setting and view and since we were there at sunset you'd think it would be nice. Nope! They had all the blinds halfway down so you couldn't see anything. Nobody ever came back to check on drinks etc. When they seated us there were 4 tables cleaned and unoccupied. They let us sit for over an hour waiting on a table despite also being on the wait list for an earlier table. However, that's not the worst. While waiting for our table we decided to get a few beers and some wine. The lady serving was the only one behind the counter so she was serving drinks, taking cash and not washing her hands. No big deal just serving drinks, right? Well, that's until you see her picking up limes and handing them to the people in front of us as if they were going to put them into their pockets for later use. She didn't pour their drinks into a glass then add the limes, she literally just picked them up with her hand and handed them over. One of the beers we got was a Blue Moon and she did the same thing with the orange. The setting outside and grounds seemed nice but the management and total lack of detail and service were horrible. We won't go back. By the way, we had just paid $89 with tax for all four of us for lunch at Salt Lick BBQ for lunch earlier that day.
The management here went above and beyond for our scout troop's campout. If they did that for us on the campgrounds, I can only imagine the level of service in the resort proper. Thank you!

A nice place to relax and get off the grid. For starters, you get to see eagles and other wild life. There are bikes and kayaks to rent. The rooms
Don’t have TVs but there are sets in the game room and Eagle’s Nest. The food at the restaurant is exceptional!! The stars in the sky are on full blast at night. So beautiful!

This inn was very quaint, clean and perfectly situated along the water.
We stayed in the Tiny Home and had everything we needed for our stay. The staff were very accommodating to check in with us via text which was a plus.
This location is about a 20-30 minute drive to many nearby attractions: Burnet, a few wineries, Inks Lake State Park, and Eagle Eye Observatory.
Would definitely recommend!

Canyon of the Eagle is an incredible place! We enjoyed every moment surrounded by nature, and the restaurant served fresh, delicious food that made our visit even better. We had a blast biking, hiking, and walking along the serene lakeside.
The highlight of our trip was the night sky experience. We watched a movie under the stars, enjoyed making s’mores, and my kids had a fantastic time! We also made a reservation at the Canyon of the Eagle Observatory, where we got to learn about the wonders of the universe. Seeing the night sky up close, including stars, Jupiter, and Mars, was truly magical. The clear skies and stargazing opportunities made this visit unforgettable! Highly recommend for anyone who loves nature and the night sky.

The Pros: The RV sites are well-spaced and wooded with full hookups. The restaurant was clean (except for the windows that look out over the lake,), and the food was excellent. The limited staff was friendly. The trails are beautiful and full of wildlife. The Cons: The staff was limited (they are hiring). They have two stores, one is a gift shop in the main office and the other is down by the lake and it’s supposed to be a “bait shop”. There were no bait at either store. If you want bait, you have to go into town. You have to have a reservation for almost everything. List: The restaurant. The Eagle eye observatory. Guided hikes and informational sessions. It was truly a disappointment.
Great place! Pool is nice and cool! Had a nice warm shower after, and got dinner. Food was buss, got the fish tacos very good! Also the service was very nice, not too crowded

Beautiful property. Lots of fun things to do (hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, observatory, and just plain relaxing). Food was good, both dinner and breakfast. I took one star off as the bathroom fixtures, tubs, vanities are a bit dated.
I was blown away by the Valentine’s Day package. I paid $425 for dinner, drinks, activities and observatory. The dinner itself was stellar. Filet mignon, salmon, crème brulee. And the service was top notch. Love this experience.

At first, I wasn’t planning to leave a public review as I typically only leave very positive reviews, but after sending a private message and processing just how many things went wrong, (more than I am including here), I think I should share our experience. There was no hot water in the room so my daughter and I both took a cold shower, the coffee maker was broken, I was overcharged at breakfast (please update your signs so people understand what is not included in the breakfast buffet), we had an exceedingly long check in time, and the list goes on and on. At the end of it all, we felt like we just were waiting around for 20 to 30 minutes at a time (checking in, renting e-bikes, etc) waiting on people to do their jobs. This place has so much potential but we found the whole experience to be underwhelming. On a positive note, we enjoyed a nice dinner and the chef was fantastic (try the prime rib and green beans!)

Hidden gem for a great getaway in Central Texas. Recently did a camping trip there in my RV and ended up booking an extra day while there because I liked it so much. Tons of trails to explore, great views of the lake, and great food at the restaurant on site. All RV sites had plenty of trees and shade and there were private shower/bathroom facilities. Will definitely go again. All the park staff were very friendly and amazing as well. There is also cabins and tent camping areas you can stay at here if you don't have a camper to bring. One thing to mention is that the RV site I stayed at was a bit un-level so make sure to bring levelers and chocks.

I've been going here for about 20 years. It's definitely a hidden gem. Really good hiking trails. You can go out on the water. Plus lots to do in the general area. Also fun to go to the onsite observatory.
