“I'm a Yankee, as my cousin from Trinidad reminded me of growing up, but I was raised in a Trini household. The food reminded me of my youth when I ate roti, curry, stew chicken, etc. I love it is a Trini-first restaurant and not a Caribbean restaurant that makes Trinidadian food. The service was friendly and attentive. It was a little slow, but she took her time to prepare the food right, and the taste was definitely worth it! For all my Trinis out there, please support this restaurant.“
“It was my husband and mine's first time visiting this restaurant and we already can't wait to go back! The service is excellent! We went for lunch during a weekday and we were seated right away. Our server, Sasha, greeted us as soon as we arrived, provided us with the drink menu and gave us some time to look at the lunch menu and decide what we wanted. Their drink menu is INCREDIBLE - a book in itself it has so many options! I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted and asked Sasha for her recommendation. I'm always looking for something strong, but not too sweet, and she recommended the Flaming Hurricane and it was perfect! Not too much ice to water it down so I only needed one drink to get the feeling I was looking for ;-). My husband and I decided to order the platter as an appetizer and got the jerk wings, beef patty and fried plantains. They were all absolutely amazing - perfect seasoning without being greasy or too saucy.I would absolutely recommended going during lunch time. Their meals come with two sides so you get more bang for your buck. I was in the mood to be adventurous so I got the goat curry with spinach and rice and beans. The sides were outstanding - I really enjoyed the spinach. The goat curry had a great flavor (my husband will order it when he returns), but it was a tiny bit too salty for me. It did not stop me from eating it all though...lol. My husband wanted to try a variety of options so he got the 3 meat platter with jerk chicken, brown stewed chicken and fish fillet. He enjoyed everything on his plate. I was very impressed with the authentic ambiance inside the restaurant and our server, Sasha, was so pleasant, helpful and patience. If you enjoy Jamaican food you CANNOT go wrong but heading to The Island Spot!!“
“This is my second time coming to this restaurant I love it soo much they never disappoint I usually get the oxtails plate but this time I got the dark meat jerk chicken which was delicious and that sauce had a kick of spice that I liked the yams, Mac n cheese, and greens are always on point now that cabbage on the other had not so much it had a weird taste to it not sure what seasoning they used but y’all definitely got to try this place it will not disappoint for real and don’t let my forget the customer service was top tier it was a great experience inside the restaurant“
“Great way to spend Easter! I love the way you feel like you're on vacation when dining here. The food is amazing, especially the coconut shrimp. The drinks are so good, especially the Grapefruit Basil Martini that I have dreams about! The live music brings you the feeling you are on a beach somewhere and the service is exceptional! We love Tommy Bahama and try to go frequently!!“
“Glad we came here. Mango juice was delicious and refreshing( Try it, if you're a fan of mango), the chicken with avocado arepa ( amazing), I forgot the name of my dish but it's a pancake with a sweet cheeseinside, and sour cream and cheese on top with a side of fried pork ( soooo good) and my hubby got a seafood dish served on the sweetest slice of fresh pineapple ( It was amazing). Definitely a nice spot and great food. Service was amazing. Will be back....“
“I dine here regularly and quite enjoy everything about it. The ropa vieja is a little less tomatoed than most I have had in Miami, but nevertheless delicious. I frequently order the vaca frita, and often a batido de mamey or guanabana. The staff are kind and attentive, and the food is consistent, authentic, and fresh.“
