Just ate here today for the first time and it was good. I was so hungry so forgot to take pictures. We got the Alsatian (Reuben) and the landmark both were good. I got the pasta salad which was so delicious and the strawberry delight very refreshing my kids shared a cheeseburger and some fresh fruit. It does take a bit of time so don’t be in a hurry be patient and be kind. Staff was amazing. Definitely will be back.

Waited to be seated while 2 servers walked by and not acknowledge us. A little greeting would have been nice. Once we sat at our table, the “drink” server took our order. She said our other server would be out to take our “food” order. Very nice young girl took that order. Now the waiting begins. The food took a while to come out that when it did , the soup was lukewarm. Our hot dishes that we ordered were cold almost. The food is overpriced for what you get. Very nice ambiance and historic little place.

No matter what any of us ordered it was great.
Terrific peach cobbler that used cinnamon sugar pie crust strips to go along with the peach filling. Perfect sweetness.
My parting thought was why hadn't I gone here sooner.

I don't normally give 5 star ratings as there is always something that can be improved, or just the fact that nothing is perfect. This visit, experience was as close to perfect as one could ever expect. The restaurant was beautiful and halfway occupied. The service felt as if we were regulars and friends with the staff, even though this was our first visit. The food was very homemade and excellent. The entire family enjoyed everything ordered. This is a place that we WILL go back to. Highly recommend a drive out to Castroville, enjoy the city and take in the Castroville Cafe.

It was my second time going to the Castroville Cafe. This time around, they had a sign on the door that said they were short staffed and had a limited menu. When we were seated, we found out they were not serving any hot sandwiches. Servers were very polite, but it did take a little while to get our food and drink refills. While we were eating, a table behind us got up and left because they had not been served yet. It was super busy. The food was very good, and we will definitely be back in the next few weeks. Hopefully, they figure out their man power issues by then.

I love this place. We took a morning drive from San Antonio to Castroville and stopped by. Beautiful little coffee shop with a small-town feel. We ate outside on a beautiful morning. The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful. Totally recommend the St. Louis Club sandwich. It's phenomenal.
