10/24/24 Went to meet a friend for lunch. Surprise they've been closed at this location since September 9th. Google showed they were open. Very disappointed. Will be watching for them to reopen at their new location in Lacoste.

No indication when we Google it that this place is closed. We went and it was on the door that lease lost, we should have kept reading as apparently they will be moving. However, would be nice to know that before we drive to it.

Food was really great! Their lunch specials are awesome. Saw a sign outside that the location will be relocating at the end of September.

It’s good they are closing. Hopefully they will run a better business in their LaCoste location. Visited on Saturday September 28th, unknowingly 1 day before their final day of business, and what a dump and a generally miserable experience.

One review says the owner has had this restaurant since he immigrated from Sicily in 2001. That’s a crock as just a few years ago it was an Alsatian restaurant run by another family, this place has only been opened approximately 3 years.

The building could be awesome, but I’m sure between whomever owns it and whatever historical preservation societies exist in Castroville it would be expensive to make the place even decent. It’s a hot, muggy craphole. That’s why I never went back to the Alsatian restaurant and I was hoping it would have been better by now.

Owner and his family must live in site as there was one daughter in the courtyard in her PJs and one son on a lounge chair behind the cash register. They mumble when they speak. Are rude. Slam the back door next to diners.

Chicken tetrazzini was pretty flavorless with overcooked spaghetti. The carbonara was meh with the same noodles.

Overall typical poorly run family business. They start something, do well enough then never change anything because they either don’t want to or can’t spend any money on anything considered an upgrade. Unable to see the benefit of upgrading the customer experience.

We had a wonderful family dinner for the first time at Luigis. The food tasted different than any other Italian restaurant. The pizza was perfectly cooked, the garlic knots were addictive, and the stuffed shells were delicious. We ordered a tiramisu to go and it was perfect. The ONLY thing that we weren't a fan of was the soup, it was incredibly salty, and I love salty but the soup was not it.
The atmosphere was lovely and peaceful. I loved how authentic it felt. Definitely worth the 30+ minute drive

We drove 55 minutes to eat here for my birthday. We showed up with a party of 8. You could tell the staff was gassed. It was a long day. But we appreciate everything they did. Their food was amazing. It is a must stop. You have to make the trip, even if it requires a detour.

?? Meet Johnny! I had the honor of sitting down at his restaurant to experience truly authentic Italian cuisine. Johnny moved from Sicily in 2001 and has since become the proud owner of this beautiful restaurant. Not only does it serve incredible Italian dishes, but it also transports you to Sicily, allowing you to relax and soak in the atmosphere. As you know, I’m a big fan of Italy, and I was truly impressed by the quality of the food Johnny offers. I can’t recommend his restaurant enough—he’s an amazing person, not just a businessman. A true Sicilian! ? I’m so glad to have met Johnny. God bless your family and all the guests who step into your wonderful restaurant. ?

This was my second time dining in, and I’d have to say, the service was 10 times better than my first visit. The waiter/server was very nice and preemptively refilled drinks and the bread basket. (This wasn’t the case on our first visit, we had to ask for everything and the young lady was in a very pissy mood). The owner stopped by everyone’s table during this visit to treat them and ask if they needed anything as well. The food is 10/10 at all times. Genuine, authentic Italian food. The restaurant itself is older and lacked cooler AC. (Which is important in San Antonio summers)

My recent visit to Luigi’s was underwhelming. The wait for food was long, and the service could have been better. I was also disappointed that the kitchen couldn't accommodate a request an hour before closing. Hoping for improvements in the future.
