If you find yourself on Hwy 287 in Childress, TX, stop by Wheat's Artesian Bakery for some fantastic brick oven pizza or a sandwich. We also tried their hand pie and cookies, all made in house and delicious! Fantastic atmosphere and excellent service. Excellent experience, we'll definitely be going back!!
Went inside for a sandwich and a cookie to try it out. I heard lots of great things about this bakery. The sandwich was amazing and the cookie was better than my grandma used to make. The little paper they put in my to-go box was so cute too. It looks like an old time newspaper. Perfect touch. I will be down again to try the pizza.
The food was awesome & very tasty. Service was speedy, in spite of the fact that we showed up unexpectedly with a group of about 15-20 people. There was plenty of seating to accommodate our group, and the shaded patio outside was enjoyable!! Will DEFINITELY be going back. Hand pies were the icing on the cake of a great experience. Get one of the hands pies, & you won't be disappointed!!!
