My family didn't make it to San Antonio this year, so we tried Granny's. The store did not appear as clean as other places, not as tasty and more expensive @ $15/dz.

Tried Granny's for the first time today. I bought chicken, chicken jalepeno, spinach, pork (mild), and pork (hot/soicy), and pan de polvo for my family. I normally frequent another establishment in the city. The tamales were good. My favorite were actually the spinach! All of them had great flavor. The pan de polvo were pretty good as well. I would definitely go back, especially for the spinach! There was a short wait. They take credit cards if you do not have cash. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating was because the man behind the counter was rude. Especially after being very friendly to the man in front of me....

The tamales used to have a generous amount of meat in them. Now you can barely see any meat at all. It tastes like all masa. Not good. Raise your price but don't eliminate the meat. Where is the beef?

We ran into Granny's Tamales at a farmers market in Sugarland and loved them. They started in Corpus so we had to pick some up for our kids and us....we got them hooked....love the filling to masa ratio. I would have said meat to masa before this visit but I tried the the cream cheese and jalapeno so now it's filling, these were very good. We got some pork and beef, amazing. They make their tamales a little skinnier than most but that doesn't matter to us 'cause they nail the ratio thing. If we wanted lots of masa we'd go to the California tamale place. Nope. We'll be back for more Granny's......now all I have to do is refrain from eating too many at one time, wish me luck.

Granny's Tamales is a hidden gem when it comes to tamales. Their jalapeño cream cheese tamales are simply divine. The combination of the spicy jalapeño and creamy cheese creates a burst of flavors in every bite. The tamales are perfectly steamed, with a soft and moist masa that wraps around the flavorful filling. The jalapeños add just the right amount of heat, balanced by the richness of the cream cheese. It's a delightful twist on a classic favorite. Whether you're a spice lover or not, these tamales are definitely worth a try. Head over to Granny's Tamales and indulge in this mouthwatering treat. You won't be disappointed!

I came by here while I was in town visiting to try the tamales. The young lady worker bragged about her grandmas beans that are full of flavor, so I ordered bean and cheese tamales. Once I was down the road taking my son to get haircu 8 minutes away, tried the tamales and Unfortunately, she gave me only plain bean tamales. So I drove back there and the girl had already locked the store up. It was 3:45pm.. online says they close at 4:30pm. I think she did it deliberately to make the sell. Because she told me they only had one more pork/beef.. she should have said they were out of the bean and cheese. Anyway, the beef/pork tamales and the plain bean tamales were very dry. I think they were old, although the girl told me that her granny makes them fresh daily.

I stopped by today and am loving the pork and beef tamales I will return. The space is small and intimate not lots of space of more than 1 or 2 customers. Great customer service.
