Peony's Place

I don't normally write reviews but I use Yelp all the time and that's exactly how I found this lovely cafe. I thought it was time I paid back and did a review of my own. This is a wonderful hidden gem for Corpus. Actually felt more like being in Austin. I had some trouble finding it, but so happy I did. TIP: the cafe is located inside Auvil's Sweet Nothings. A friend and I stopped in for lunch. We had noticed a sign on the door of the antique store a few weeks ago and made a point to go back. We were very happy with the service and the delicious food. Ricci is sweet and attentive. There are not very many tables but that was not a problem. We both looked over the menu and decided to try the special of the day. Always like trying local eateries . I had the garden burger and tomato basil soup. Both full of flavor. The chicken dumpling was special of the day which my son ordered. It came with a wonderful focacia bread. He was very pleased. We took a piece of lemon blueberry cake to go. Will definitely be back. Ricki was our waitress and cook and she did it with such ease. What a pleasant experience. I will be back.
