Roaming Ronin is hands-down my new favorite sushi spot! The spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls were so fresh they practically melted in my mouth. Even the suicide edamame was unforgettable—spicy, bold, and addictive. You can see the detail and care the chef puts into every plate, both in taste and presentation. A true hidden gem—I’ll definitely be back!

Service: food came out with no utensils and napkins. Had to ask her if we could get some after waiting a while. Ordered fried rice for my kids bento box and got white rice. Ordered a half roll and got a full roll. Ordered the chicken katsu curry with rice and only had chopsticks to eat it with. Asked for a spoon and got a plastic spoon (while I see regular metal spoons at all the other tables). Would’ve ordered dessert but before we were even done, she gave us the check already.

Would come back because the food and atmosphere was pretty good but service was so bad, felt like a waste of money.

And to top it off, asked for a to go box for some leftovers and she asked “is it for the napkins or the food”.

Truly the best sushi I have had in corpus in a while. Staff was so kind (even though we came in an hour before they closed) and the rolls were perfect. Great vibes and great food. Such a nice gem to find in corpus!

My sushi roll had little to no cream cheese in it, my whole purpose for even getting that roll (Philadelphia), and looked like a complete and utter mess (I’ve made better looking rolls my first time making them). Also had no napkins. Other than that, it was really good. My boyfriend’s roll was good for him.

Everything we tried was great. The sushi chefs were rolling the whole time we were there. The empress roll and the beef broth with noodles and bits of pork belly were our favorites.

We used to really like this place. The last time the wait for food was LONG, but it was good. This time, I wanted to walk out but my husband decided we should stay. Here are the issues:

1. The guy making the sushi honestly was grossing me out. I watched him handling a pen and paper while writing something, then stopping to drink from a cup and then going back to handle the raw fish, all without ever cleaning his hands. He had long curly hair hanging all over his face, which just made me think for sure you’re going to find that in your sushi. He also moved truly at a crazy slow pace, which is why the wait for food was so long.

2. When our 3 sushi rolls finally arrived, the sushi rolls with rice were falling apart before we could even eat them. They were loosely
rolled, the rice was mushy, and there was tons of rice in them. It was really bad, y’all. And they used to be really good.

Service was ok. The one waitress was doing what she could. She was by herself and not was packed.

Our bill was almost $80 for 3 rolls and an appetizer. No drinks only water. Based on how long it took to get our food, the unsanitary handling of food by the guy making sushi, and the mushy rice and sushi falling apart, we won’t be back. Super sad because it used to be eslly good ) :

The restaurant dining room is kind of small but cozy. The was one server/hostess working. The ronin beef bowl was decent but not worth the price. The meat was kind of mushy and the rice was very microwave type rice. My son had the same dish and had similar feedback. The spicy tuna roll was good and probably saved the meal. My daughter had the California roll and did not finish it because of the rice texture. I personally don’t feel it’s worth the price but there are other items on the menu worth trying.

Food was excellent... At least what they had. About half the menu was unavailable. No soju, no edamame, no dessert, I can't even list off every single thing they didn't have. Some of the sauces were unavailable. On a Friday night, that's just not okay.

My new favorite spot, never have to worry about it being good one day and average or poor the next, they are always on point. Staff is friendly and they always have great recommendations. Sushi is fresh and the Ramen bowls are some of the best you will ever have in Corpus.
