We have came here 8 times in a matter of about 6 months-1 year. The food has always been good. I wouldn’t say it’s the best bbq I’ve ever had but it’s good for corpus restaurants. Now the reason I’m leaving this review is the lack of supplies and the horrible management/service I have encountered while visiting Salty Oak. I had a sit down with the new Manager Mark last time I brought our family for a Mother’s Day lunch. I explained to him that even that time that I was there they were ALWAYS out of an item. Whether it be sweet tea, pickles macaroni, it’s multiple things. He told me that he would assure that this get brought to the owners attention and they would be stocked up. Well again today I brought my girlfriend to eat when we were going to go to Rudy’s since we live closer to Rudy’s but we went to Salty Oak because we had a good feeling about the new Manager Mark. Again today they were out of traditional pickles like your everyday bbq place has and the drink machine was down. We didn’t get service until 15 mins of sitting down and that was after speaking to Mark making sure he knew we were back to visit and eat. He could not accommodate anything with us not being able to drink what we wanted and when we got up to leave and told the other manager with glasses and a mustache that we would never come back and he said “that’s okay you’re one in a million, it won’t hurt us.” If he had accommodated me for something he would’ve probably kept me as a customer but not only did you lose out on the entire meal we didn’t eat but a customer and a whole bunch Of people to follow. Take care and GOOD LUCK Maybe this is why we are literally the only people in the restaurant each time we go and y’all had a tv promotion going today to help boost business.

My pork ribs that I barbeque are moist and succulent but at the Salty Oak they are dry and over spiced and salty. The brisket was also dry and the chicken was over cooked. The smoke flavor is a bit off most likely from smoking with oak. Mesquite would be a better choice. The pulled pork was pretty good. Small portions for a high price though. Rudy's is actually better!

Really wanted to like this place, but it was pretty bad. I will say though, the server was super friendly and the place is pretty nice! Now the food...I ordered 1 lb of moist brisket, 1 lb of ribs, 1 lb of sausage, plus a side of beans and slaw. The brisket wasn't terrible and I think if they put in a little effort it could be really good! Nice peppery bark but needed more salt. The sausage is strange. It's VERY dry with a strong taste of black pepper. Now the ribs. I wish I could find something nice about them, but this is where it seemed the cooks just gave up. The ribs were burnt. Not like they were overcooked a little. These were just straight up burnt. I don't know how old they were but I did see the cooks reheat them in a microwave Do yourself a favor...go elsewhere for bbq. If you want bad bbq, this is the place to go!

I have been to this establishment several times and every time I have been I have had the same thought. That it was overpriced for what it was. My wife and I showed up last night for dinner she ordered a BBQ sandwich and they served it on regular bread... It looked funny, we laughed about it, and they brought out what was supposed to be Mac and Cheese and it looked more like half boiled macaroni noodles that had dried out and had no cheese at all....I mentioned it to the waiter against my wife's advice and she insisted to him that it was fine no big deal OK .....Well the rest of the food was OK at best my turkey was very dry and had lots of gristle, sausage was very tough. I attributed it to it being the end of the day...in addition to our meals I had placed a to go order prior to receiving our food, with the intention of having lunch for work the next day ...After our waiter ran our card, I found out that he had made a fresh batch of Mac and cheese for us and sent it with us....He is the only reason I am leaving 2 stars and not 1....Anyways, fast forward to today, While trying to eat the turkey and sausage thats super dry and tough (I get it its reheated, it was dry and tough yesterday also) well I end up finding a hair in my potato salad which has been sealed since we left the restaurant. If you want to spend money on this place that's fine but I will never spend another dime in this establishment. I hope that the ownership sees this and implements some more quality control in the kitchen, and also commends our waiter, he was really the only one who put forth any kind of effort last night.*I will add that the last time I was there I was with 4 other people and after we ordered they brought our food out family style and even added to what was actually ordered then when we said we were each paying individually, they split the check evenly instead of itemizing to what we actually ordered, essentially charging people more or less depending on what they ordered ... I noticed this as it happened but didn't want to make a scene at the time.

First time here . I had the brisket with macaroni and coleslaw. The macaroni had no flavor, and the coleslaw was horrible. Will not go there again. The brisket was ok. I could see the cook in the kitchen was using the microwave a lot.

There are so many regional variations of barbecue in the US. But there are probably just as many throughout the great state of Texas. And those of us in the know, know that Central Texas-style is where it's at! Not that South Texas barbecue isn't great either. And with that, Salty Oak is your place if you are craving Central Texas-style barbecue in Corpus Christi. Recently reestablished to a bigger more convenient location. Good move on their part to meet their demands, because they are that good. I always order meats by the pounds because that's how I roll. I believe the sides are good to. Come on Saturday or Sunday for some amazing beef ribs. They run out of them fast though.

So of course everyone is coming for the delicious food!!! ERIC makes the best fresh fruit mojito's ever!!!! You will be hooked!!! The service was awesome Trinidad is very attentive never our drinks go empty. The brisket is so soft and delicious. I mainly loved the baked potato with brisket . Hard working staff and owners. It's nice going to a place where you see the heart of an establishment put on a plate! Great ambiance and isn't afraid of trying new things. Food is hearty portions and is flavorful! This joint is worth going to!

Want a better bbq place? I found it! Salty Oak has a really great simple flavor. Huge portions, turkey sandwich is perfectly moist. Chopped bbq with Carolina slaw, was my favorite. The staff is friendly and helpful. Live music Thurs - Saturday. Indoor seating or on the patio. Burbon, Gin, Scotch ir IPAs. Must try....

Meh, my expectations definitely were not met. Firstly, it took about 10 minutes to be served drinks after being seated, and then another 10,15 minutes to order because there were no servers in sight. I know restaurants are short-staffed, so I figured that's ok, as long as the food is delicious. But it honestly was just fine. The brisket was good, but the potato salad was below-average and green beans were canned. The barbecue sauce is sort of sour and they don't have a sweet option. Just go to Rudy's.

Great place for barbecue. Food and service are excellent from the sliced brisket to the coleslaw, potato salad etc. I promise we will come back again enjoy another fantastic meal. I've taken several parties over there and we all have enjoyed it. Their beef ribs are special treat when available. Thanks guys

The absolute best brisket I have ever had literally melted in my mouth! I requested the burnt ends and added the jalapeño cheese sausage...plus the regular bbq sides~delish potato salad & beans w pickles & onions! I ll be back for Sunday bbq every week! The service was excellent from our waitress Allie & the manager Eric who made an excellent gin martini! My family is so glad Travis opened this bbq restaurant and will book his catering for our events!!!

What a GREAT experience! We ordered quite a bit of food to take out for our family event. While waiting at the bar we had several drinks. Best bartender ever! The brisket and coleslaw were definitely the stars of the evening besides the delicious cocktails we had while waiting. Gotta try his winter wonderland with hendricks. My new FAVE.
