Amazing food. Deep flavors and home cookin’ at its best. Samples fries, mashed potatoes, corn, potato salad, BBQ ribs, beef tips, meatloaf, mac n cheese, rolls, pecan pie…all great! You need to stop at the gem.

Probably best catfish I’ve ever had, didn’t need any sauce. Sides were all delicious. Staff very friendly and clean bathrooms! Will make this a regular stopping point on our way through town!

I’m so glad we stopped! Short ribs yams and collareds, beef tips rice and butter beans, hamburger steak and mashed potatoes with black eyed peas… nothing on our plates was less than amazing. Service was excellent. Clean and pleasant dining room. We left stuffed. Anytime we travel through we will make a point to stop!

I was recommended here by a local while in town for work. The food was amazing and the staff were super friendly. Portions were huge and everything was delicious.

Quick stop driving through and was looking for food. Ms. Arlene's was a great choice. The Hamburger Steak was Phenomenal! Collard greens were perfect in every way.

My wife and I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon on the way back to Houston from West Texas. It doesn't look like much - but you can't let that fool you - they are doing some serious cooking in this place. I had chicken fried steak with okra and tomatoes and black eyed peas. My wife had southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes and greens. It was all FANTASTIC! The spice mix they are using for the batter on their steaks and chicken is pretty unique - with what seems to be a lot of lemon pepper in the mix. It works very well. The sides all taste like something granny would make. Can't wait to go back.

When you walk in to this restaurant it is not much to look at at all but when I tell you the food more than makes up for it. If this place was in a better location, they would be packed all day. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a plate.

Fantastic chicken and dressing. I’d post a picture but I scarfed it down before I thought about it.

Tik Tok worthy… it took an hour (said 10-15 minutes) for a burger basket.. it taste straight like salt so much grease not even edible my man had to go straight home.. worse then Taco Bell.. no burger should tear someone’s stomach up over a hour wait just to be told we should have called… (we tried automated phone system no bueno!! ) we should have gotten a free meal or a drink lord where’s the hospitality.. never ever again.

Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, Ms.Arlene herself spent time chatting with us.

Stopped here during a road trip for some soul food, and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and clearly made with care. Ms. Arlene went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, which made the experience even better. Definitely worth the stop!
