For a place that advertises itself as a selective quaint place with a unique story and atmosphere, it felt like every other mediocre bar in Dallas with the same loud music and overpriced ill-made drinks.
The setting of babou’s make it appear as a place for a good drink and nice conversation, but it’s over crowded, loud with 2010 club music that doesn’t fit its interior and bad hostess service. If I wanted to go to a club to dance to this music I would’ve gone to deep Ellum. I couldn’t even hear myself think.
More so, I tried to distract myself with some of the books from their library. I was immediately surrounded by the bouncers and told the books were not for reading. At this point I’m baffled by what babou’s is trying to market itself. Honestly, I think they lost their own message or never had an identity.
I’ve been to smaller, less “fancy” bars in smaller town that had more class than this place. Would not recommend at all. Don’t be fooled by the pictures. It’s not worth it.

After years living around uptown area, I would recommend trying other places around. Environment is not good, bartenders are not friendly and the bar itself smells funky. You definitely don’t want your night to be ruined by going here!

This place smells UNBELIEVABLY horrible. It smelled like hotel’s bathrooms was drifting into the bar area and made it impossible to stay there even for one drink.

Had a reservation that we made weeks in advance because we were having dinner at Stillwells, could have easily booked anywhere in Dallas but we opted for convenience and they decided to try and sit us in the lobby area despite the fact that multiple tables were available. The excuse was that they wanted to sit other customers with larger groups even though 1. Nobody else was waiting & 2.the guests previously sitting there were just 2 at the same tables. We planned on ordering bottles of champagne for what was meant to be a special night but the host tonight literally ruined our plans. Never coming back 0/10. So many better places in Dallas that will treat guests like guests and not a liability.

LOVED the “speakeasy” atmosphere of this place!! A highlight was chatting with Anthony (front entrance security) who gave us some fun facts about the rooster (Oscar) in the Salvador Dali pictures, to the social media trend involving the bathroom tiles! Fun night!😉
Definitely make a reservation. We just walked in and had difficulty finding a place to sit and have a drink. All the tables had a reserved sign on them. But definitely worth the visit.
