I'm saddened that 08/31/2025 is the very last day Cru will be open at this particular location, as I was first made aware of the restaurant over 20 years ago. As always, the service was outstanding alongside mouthwatering bites and wine.
Were there for the Restaurant Week menu. Excellent food and the suggested wine pairing was very nice. Too bad they are closing. Glad we got there before they do that.
We had never eaten here before and we are not wine drinkers. The food was pretty good, but their menu is quite limited in terms of food. If you'd like a pizza and wine, it would be a nice place.
We went to try their Restaurant Week menu, and were reminded that this is a wine bar that also serves some food. All the food came out hot. The shrimp potstickers were fine, and then I got the Scallop Risotto. The scallops were gummy like they weren't cooked all the way. I tried a bite of each scallop and they were all the same. The risotto also wasn't cooked through. the rice grains were pretty tough. and then the chocolate cake at the end was really great. Nice and light, and fluffy. Would I go back? Sure, for some wine. I guess.
Visited during restaurant week.. The menu pairing was as advertised. The flight wine sampler is a nice surprise and a descent size poor. The location does not have hard liquor, simply wine and champagne which was fine. The shrimp potstickers were superb. The main course meal came out fresh and hot. The wife's chicken was cooked well but as she stated was just OK.. My salmon was prepared with a nice temp and firmness however lacked seasoning. We looked like we desired more pepper and butter at the table when honestly the chef may have held back.. Please Cook it like you are cooking for yourself. All in all not bad. Nice location and not seeing an immediate reason to not return for another dine in.
Small cozy restaurant decorated with wine posters and a wall of wine cubicles. Nicely done. The food was excellent. I had scallops on a bed of risotto that was excellent. The risotto was delicious!! And the scallops were nicely done. My wife had the fillet with scalloped potatoes and asparagus cooked to a very nice medium rare. The waiter gave us a small tasting of three wines to help us make our wine pairing. We enjoyed our evening very much. The menu is rather small so we probably won't go back but we certainly liked what we did order.
It's a great place to relax and enjoy a nice glass or nice sample of different wines and champagnes
CRÚ Food & Wine Bar in West Village is a cozy, upscale spot that nails the balance between elegance and comfort. Their wine list is top-notch, and the small plates are perfect for sharing. Ideal for a date night or a laid-back evening with friends who love good wine and great food.
Apps, wine, and pizza are good. Service has been poor every time we've been.
I'm a big fan of Cru! The different wine options are nice! I love how they have 12 different flight options.
The food is good too, but honestly: I really love the wine and the atmosphere. Being able to be outside or inside is nice.

This is my second time to Cru since Easter Sunday where the 3 course brunch my dining partner and I had was not a good experience. Due to an email from the General Manager apologizing/explaining the issues they had Easter Sunday after my OpenTable review expressing my disappointment, and from the check adjustment from the server on Easter Sunday, I decided to go back to Cru and see if the food and service for the 3 course Mother's Day was back to "normal". I can gladly say the food was much improved to the point that I would go back to Cru to give it a try for a normal Sunday brunch and not a three course prix fixe menu. I started off getting one of their mimosas and the price was reasonable and it was tasty. Again, I had to inquire about the bread basket that comes with two half slices of bread that I would think is made in house. This is something that should always come automatic as opposed to a diner having to ask for it. The appetizer I chose was a lump crab salad that was presented in a way not expected. As opposed to have a lump or scoop of crab salad atop of the greens (some type of leaf lettuce, cooked asparagus and green beans) the crab was mixed in. It was tasty when I took a bite of the appetizer and enjoyed the dressing, but I think the way an appetizer is presented speaks volumes to the diner before being eaten. The presentation might have been better if the crab was lumped on top of the green and not mixed in and had a cherry tomato or two sliced in half and mixed in to provide a color and taste not "green". I had the Bass main course and this fish course was very good. It had a nice crusted top to it and it was very tasty. The dish was served with cooked corn and capers. The dessert was a pound cake with berries and cream but I took this home as I had eaten enough and decided to eat it later. All in all, this Mother's Day 3 course meal was worth the effort of going back and giving Cru another try.
Food was not seasoned. Dessert took awhile to come out, but was good.
Went for Easter prix fixe and waited 1.5 hours for some mediocre food. Was still $70 a person :/
The server we had for the table was simply a cut above the rest. Attentive, familiar with the menu and wines and overall did an outstanding job. And to know that this establishment is also dog friendly is great to know. The aesthetics of Cru was visually appealing also, with a a large selection of wines and a good menu that had the option of small or sharing plates. The food portions were just right and not overly excessive in their quantity. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place for a good brunch, day drinking spot.
Sat down and was handed menu’s with no explantation, after about 10 minutes we were explained the menu by a manager. Server came back and filled up waters and asked us if we wanted to get started with some glasses of wine and brought a 1oz cup of lobster bisque, for starters this was Valentine’s Day and there was a set menu, which is no problem but the options were not good. It was a 4 course meal for $65, starting with the lobster bisque, this was by far the worst lobster bisque I have ever had in my life, it was served in essentially a fancy shot glass that was extremely impractical to eat out of, second course was apps, this was probably the best part of the meal which isn’t saying much, my girlfriend got the lobster ravioli and she’s not a huge lobster fan and said she liked it, I got the crab cake which was an extremely small portion, quite tasteless but wasn’t awful. Next course was the entrees, I got the Chilean sea bass and my girlfriend got the filet. First off the Chilean sea bass was pretty awful but wasn't the worst thing I’ve ever had, very salty and nothing to it besides salt, my girlfriend was not asked how she would like her steak cooked so it was prepared rare (cold red center) which she usually eats medium rare, but being that the steak was completely unseasoned it was very hard for her to eat on top of the fact that the potato stack on the plate she said seems reheated before being served, neither of us finished our entrees. Lastly, the deserts, I got a raspberry brûlée which was not even bruleed on top and tasted very bad, she got a chocolate cake which was not the best but pretty underwhelming. On top of this our server was not very helpful and after taking our order didn’t say a word to us besides dropping the check. For $180 (without the 20% we left) we could have ate almost anywhere else that would’ve tasted better and been a better overall experience, we understand valentines was busy, but this was a extremely disappointing experience as we traveled in from out of town for dinner reservations.
