Food is good, but the business hours which are on the building are incorrect, as are the hours posted here on Google. I attempted to update the hours here based on the soonest it'd allow me to place an online order. It's Thurs 7/15/2023. Posted hours say that they open at 7am, but the building is closed and devoid of personnel.
I had been going to the location on Lemmon for over 10 years. It was consistently my favorite place to get a sandwich. The character of the building along with high quality ingredients combined to create a sandwich experience like none other.Do not waste your time if you are like me and have such fond memories of the original. You’ll quickly realize that the sandwich you knew and loved is not the same anymore. Both of these stars are solely for the smiling faces behind the counter who provided fantastic service.
So incredibly disappointed that they've changed it so drastically from what it used to be. It's not anything but mediocre fast food and you'll get more flavor and substance for your money at Jimmy John's or really any sandwich shop...also very off-putting that their dining room closes at 4pm in the nice neighborhood they're in. New owners or same owners are clearly focused on cutting costs despite losing everything that we loved the place for.
I ordered delivery last week and I could not have been more disappointed with what eventually arrived. The “healthy hero” is supposed to have olives, mushrooms, and cucumbers which are there, but the menu also lists sprouts, which clearly are not. What also wasn’t there are the multiple other things I requested, which can be clearly seen on the receipt that accompanied it. There was no left, tomato, onion, banana pepper, or jalapeño. I don’t know what was going on, but this was one of the worse sandwiches I’ve ever had. It looks like it was thrown together minutes before the restaurant closed and maybe half their ingredients were already packed up, but I ordered well over an hour before closing. I’ve eaten in the restaurant before and the quality was high. This was just sad.
One of my favorite sandwiches places in Dallas. New location, same great food. Jalapeño cheese bread has been my go to, but should probably mix it up and try the others! Very genuinely friendly staff which is appreciated. Have been four times since opening here and obviously will be back.
First Time trying this sandwich shop. It was Good. I ate the Great American Duplex or something like that, the one w more meat. It was delicious. I also bought a broccoli cheese soup. It was thick, chunky. Money's worth. Taste was a 3.5 out of 5 for me.
After ordering sandwiches from Great American Hero, my family thought of them as just okay - not great, not terrible … just mediocre. The sandwiches reminded us of another popular sub sandwich chain. With so many outstanding sandwich options in Dallas, I don’t think we’ll go back to this place.
Absolutely hands down the BEST SANDWICH PLACE EVER!!So good we will be going back tomorrow! I recommend the Godfather, & The Super Hero!! I'm never going to any other place for a sandwich again! Great group of people!
Very delicious, the bread is flavorful definitely recommend when ur in a mood for a very delicious sandwich
Me and my wife were curious since we loved the old place so, we went. My opinion is ignore the negative comments, it is the same staff, it is the same food, and the coke is similar. Yes its farther, yes we miss the old colors, yes it looks too modern, but it stills tastes amazing.

My husband and I used to drive out of our way to go to the original location so we were glad they moved. However, we’ve visited twice now and the first time was ok as they were just opening and sorting out a few issues, but today, I was disappointed. After paying $30+tip for two combos…a sandwich, chips, large drinks and two cookies, we were bummed that after requesting the sandwiches be made “hero style” we got home and they were looking sort of sad and not “hero style”. Hoping they get some of these kinks worked out …didn’t seem like the value was there like it has been in the past.
I used to be a regular of the old location a few years ago. This new location is definitely an upgrade in terms of aesthetics, but it seems like the quality of the sandwiches isn’t the same. The bread was pretty good, but they had very little meat and the quality of what there was left something to be desired, especially at the prices they are charging.
My wife and I wanted to try the new location and grab a quick sandwich. The toppings were fresh and the sandwich could have been pretty decent and worth re-visiting; however, the meat served was thin; pathetically so. For the price of about 10$ for each sandwich, we got an oz of meat, maybe. It was like a joke. She got the Pastrami and Carnegie deli it is not. I’m not sure if the original location had the same philosophy, but I probably wouldn’t revisit.
First time here. Texas cheesesteak sub was not good at all. Red peppers cooked so long it was complete mush and tasteless. Young boy making my sandwich forgot the mushrooms. And now looking at the menu again since leaving, he also forgot the onions. No attention to detail by the boys making the sub. I asked the woman who took my order if the meat on the counter was for my sub before they prepared it because I requested provolone cheese but they were about to use something different. When she brought it to their attention and told them she wrote down provolone they didn’t acknowledge her speaking to them. She also had to tell them it was a dine in order, not to go, as they placed my sandwich in a to go container. She was very pleasant to deal with. The restaurant was clean. A little more attention to detail is needed. I understand if staff is new, or even in training, but, being courteous doesn’t require training.
Update....I dropped by today after shopping. The sandwiches were made right! Here is a photo of the #5.
