I recently visited Quarter Acre in Dallas for my in-laws' 40th wedding anniversary. While the food was good, the overall experience was disappointing.
We initially wanted to start with champagne and a snack to celebrate, but we had to argue with our waiter just to get her to put the order in. She insisted that we order everything at once and would then course it out, which was frustrating. After some back and forth, she finally agreed to our request. But really put a damper on the mood.
Additionally, when the champagne was poured, she spilled it all down the glass and didn’t pour it correctly for everyone at our table. Other drinks were mediocre at best.
To add to the frustration, we noticed that other tables celebrating special occasions received little extras, but ours did not. We also were charged a $12 credit card processing fee without being asked if we wanted to pay by cash, which felt like an unnecessary charge given we were already spending a significant amount. It came across as nickel-and-diming.
While the food was decent enough, the service left much to be desired.

Walking in I had pretty high hopes and wasn't so familiar with New Zealand-inspired cuisine. Staff was pretty friendly and the space itself is really cool. I particularly like the layout of the tables. However, ultimately the food didn't really live up to my hopes.
We opted not to do the tasting menu, but did end up spending a fair amount of money as most of the dishes are fairly pricey. Everyone around us was doing the tasting.
Started with the fry bread, which was pretty underwhelming. I felt like it would be a bit cheesier but really just tasted like a hot pastry. The tartare was pretty salty, which I wouldn't have minded if we had been given crackers to eat it with but this only happens if you do the tasting menu (which I found very strange?). The mushroom dish was our favorite, as the egg soaked the mushrooms beneath really nicely without being overwhelming. The two mains we got were the sea bass, which I didn't really care for in terms of the flavoring (did enjoy the vegetable, though) and the grilled wagyu cheek. The latter came with ssamjang, which I thought was interesting. And the meat was fine, but wagyu will always be at least fine. We also got the Caesar salad which we really didn't need but was also weirdly difficult to eat physically.
It's apparent that a lot of care and thought went into the menu and everything really was inspired, which we can certainly appreciate.

I never make reviews but heard it was really disappointing and I’m easy to please. It was trying to be fancy. The steak was super fat and salmon was barely cooked. We barely ate and the waitress didn’t ask if anything was wrong and acted like all was good and I wasn’t going to be a jerk and complain. Never go back.
Food was trying too hard and ultimately while it looked pretty, it was not good. We tried so many different things and can't say I loved anything. Was a big let down, don't think I'll be back.

The service was truly great, everyone was incredibly welcoming and attentive.
However, the food itself was somewhat underwhelming. While the presentation was nice, the flavors didn’t stand out as much as we’d hoped. The coconut ceviche was the only dish we truly enjoyed.
Two of our dishes were overly salty, though the server described them as being ‘intense.’

Where do I begin? First of all, I had high expectations because a friend told me this was a great “farm to table” type of restaurant. First of all, it was not that. Food was incredibly underwhelming and we ordered almost half the menu for our group of 4. They also forgot to bring our peas, which we were charged for, and my husband now thinks is too late to contest.
The initial presentation of the food was always more impressive than the food itself. Everything was either too salty or saucy. Nothing tasted “farm to table” like the way it’s done in California. Drinks were decent and probably the only things worth getting.
Also, for a restaurant that charges and acts like a wannabe Michelin star restaurant, they really need to have bag stands. My friend and I had very expensive bags and the waiter had no interest in helping us put it somewhere, stating there was a reservation next to us. The reservation did not show up until 1.5 hours later, I checked.
Ridiculous. Won’t come back. Also the location in lower Greenville for a restaurant of this price point isn’t ideal.

Really special food - very creative menu that surprises and wows. Service and ambiance to match. Would call this a top restaurant in dfw
Best dining experience in Dallas since Bullion. Chef Toby plying his craft and bringing a taste of New Zealand to Dallas. Everything is meticulously curated. The Kingfish ceviche and fish on chip are a must.

Overall this restaurant deserves the reviews it receives. Love a restaurant with an “on top of it” maitre d'! The martini ? and kingfish ceviche are divine! The food is innovative and delectable .... we enjoyed the sea bass (though over salted) and salmon along with a side of the most delicious semi fried potatoes. The service is by far some of the best in the Dallas. The only downside is that the ambiance is nice but extremely casual for the “priceyness” of the food. Im guessing that it might be the neighborhood ? Anyway Thank you for a great experience!
Wonderful experience as always. We've been dining here since they opened, and they never disappoint. Wonderful creative food. Perfect service. Refreshing cocktails. A neighborhood favorite.

Interesting food and drinks. Get textural differences in every dish. Especially liked the chicken liver mousse and the peach dessert. We sat outside on a beautiful night.... perfect, except for the flies. Next time we'll sit inside.
Absolutely the best fine dining I've had in a long time! I highly recommend!

This place is fantastic. I have driven by it for years and didn’t even know it was tucked in among all the other stuff on the Greenville. Great New Zealandish take on perfectly sized delicious portions of food. Excellent service and drink selection as well.

High quality, inventive and delicious menu, with South Pacific inspiration and imported ingredients. The lamb and salmon were superb and memorable. Excellent cocktails. The Texas Peach dessert was really special. This is officially my favorite restaurant in the Knox / Lower Greenville area. Service was excellent and attentive as well. Can’t say enough good things!
