We love this whole fish! Only thing I’d recommend is that you have the noodles put on the side. Not a fan of soggy batter.

Top 3 Sushi places in Dallas. I recommend the Dragon lady pressed sushi. The place is also beautiful. All the workers are amazing.

After all these years, the food quality is still great. Friendly service. Wish they could open for lunch everyday.

Waiter took out order and the next time he came by it was to ask if we were ready for our check. In the meantime, the miso cod was undercooked and we would've loved to have it cooked a bit more. We also ordered two sushi rolls which were not brought out until I pointed out we'd not received them when we were asked if we were ready for the check.

The food was excellent but came out in phases. If you want items to come out together, you have to request that. The patio smelled like smoke so we moved to the bar inside which was very crowded.

Shinsei made our large group dinner party an amazing experience! The food was perfect and so delicious, and the service was over the top incredible. Janet was an absolute dream to work with to make the large group a possibility. I cannot wait to go back for dinner and I look forward to hosting another large dinner party with Shinsei! Highly highly recommend!

Came here for the first time with my husband and my 6 year old. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. Perfect for date night. The bartender (I didn't get his name) was incredible with my 6 year old! He was so nice and friendly. The food was amazing. Couldn't rave more about this place. We tried several things. My favorite was the dragon lady press roll.

The service team upstairs was friendly but inconsistent. Our waiters never knew whether we were expecting more food or not. No one was communicating with each other. Our black cod arrived cold. The crispy shrimp appetizer was mushy.

The overall experience was excellent. The service was outstanding, the courtesy extended by every member of the staff was exemplary, and overall the food was remarkable. Sadly, however, we experienced one major disappointment: the hot rock beef item. We were told the beef portion would be approximately 3 ounces, justifying the price. We were therefore incredulous when five scrawny cardboard thin slices, questionably measuring in total even a single ounce, were set down at our table. Though that was the only fall from grace that otherwise wonderful evening, it was certainly one very long drop, and hardly what we expected in a restaurant of such high caliber and integrity.

Took my 6 year old grandson and we had a delicious, fun time. He loves the octopus roll, cooked his steak on the hot rock. I had Shinsei sashimi and lettuce wraps :). Waitress and support staff were very accessible to our needs including advising the kitchen to leave out the wasabi on his rolls. Yum!

We started with a sashimi plate with 3 fishes, octopus, tuna and salmon. The salmon was great, tuna was dry and tasteless and the octopus was very salty, moving on we ordered nigiri shrimp (good not great), and tuna (same as on sashimi, dry). Ordered 3 things. Oysters which were recommended over the gyoza, edamame and tempura shrimp. 3 strikes, You could not find the oysters as they were small and had huge amounts of mascarpone cheese, edamame was seriously over cooked and the tempura shrimp though presented nicely were more like what you would get in a US Long John's Silver's

We've eaten here quite a few times over the years and the food is always incredible! I had dinner with friends on my last visit and everyone ordered several different things and we all shared. There wasn't one bad dish! Plus, the server was kind enough to refill our water glasses after we paid and were finishing our conversation - this never happens. We tipped very well, but I think she would have done it regardless. The valet setup could use some improvement, so I'd recommend carpooling (?) or arriving 20 minutes early for your reservation regardless of what night it is.

Great food and service every visit. Recommend reservations, but they do accept walk-in customers.

Got fried shrimp, tempura green beans, some roll that had salmon and avocado on top (Alfred's roll maybe), pork belly buns and the dragon pressed sushi. Dragon pressed sushi and Alfred roll were by far the best things we got. Worth it for those alone. Didn't need all the appetizers and they weren't anything special: the pork's buns or the green beans was the best. They have an awesome $20 lunch bento box deal that was intriguing. Service was a bit slow during lunch on a Friday but overall great sushi.

Food is amazing, drinks are really good. Our server was really great, ambient is very nice, there's a bar by tables so noise level is a bit high but not disturbing. However, service was slow, it's probably because it was a busy Saturday night, valet service is not good, we didn't like it. It was extremely cold and they didn't even bring our car to front, they just handed us the keys and told us that we need to walk until parking lot in 14 degree freezing weather.
