We had an unbelievable meal at Shoyo. Chef Kenny really blew us away with his innovative combinations, especially the shaved ankimo course. Chef Jimmy and his staff’s hospitality was beyond generous and we can’t wait to return!

The service is top notch from the moment you walk in the door! We were greeted with a warm welcome including a choice between sake and sparkling wine while we mingled and awaited our seating. The food repeatedly left me speechless and, combined with the service, is WELL worth the already reasonable price. The owner himself along with his additional chefs and wait staff were happy to chat with throughout our meal truly making it feel as if you’re dining with friends. This is the best sushi I have had outside of Japan and I already can’t wait to go back! 10/10 would recommend!

Went for my birthday in October. It's a prix fixe/omakase style Place that requires reservations ahead of time. There are food add ons and cocktails that can also be chosen. The presentation is amazing (see photos), the portions seem small but there are 12 of them so by the end of the meal it is very satisfying. The chefs provided interesting banter throughout the meal. Will go back again some day.

At Shoyo, every bite was a discovery. From the moment you're seated, the chefs take you on a journey through their expertly prepared, 19 courses! Every bite is a burst of flavor. And what makes the experience even better is the warm and friendly service - the staff aren't just knowledgeable, they're like old friends guiding you through cocktails that expertly pair with the meal. Great place to share with your special someone, their intimate ambiance and unforgettable dining adventure have you covered. Can't wait to do again soon!

Simply put, the best experience in Dallas let alone meal. I had the pleasure of joining Chef Jimmy to celebrate a late Valentine’s and Shoyo is hands-down the best of the best. An energetic, welcoming, and warm atmosphere, Chef Jimmy and team have created an amazing experience that offers comfort without sacrificing 3-star Michelin caliber service. But the real star of the show, the omakase. Words cannot do justice to the menu. Not a single serving was below 5-star and the care, craftsmanship, and personal touch with each dish truly sets Shoyo apart from the rest. The leaving sentiment: an absolute must if you get the opportunity while in Dallas.

I stuffed every big sushi roll I could get in my mouth. I have a giant appetite for Japanese love. Very impressive vibe. Food was prepared flawlessly. Wish we had this quality in midlothian

Had the pleasure of dining at Shoyo last night. It was our fourth time in a year that we were able to score reservations. Like others have said, set a timer for the first Monday of the month to get on their website... and budget accordingly. For what you get, the price is fair. There is a reason it's a top omakase sushi spot in Dallas and D Magazine #5 restaurant this year - quality, attention to detail, and service are superb. An omakase experience is a different level of fine dining. Every time we've gone, the menu is different, other than the supplemental courses you can purchase for an additional charge. Some things are just too good not to keep offering. This includes caviar and some sushi options. The menu changes daily and we've noticed some seasonal differences, so part of the fun is seeing what's on the menu. For example, in the fall we had a dish made of corn. Looked like a corn on the cob... but was actually fully edible! You do get a chawanmushi (egg custard) course and a soup course along with many courses of sushi. The chefs play with textures, flavors, and non-traditional ingredients in part to surprise you and challenge the notion of what sushi can be. This is not just a bunch of types of tuna and salmon. Yes, pesto may be involved, and it's a fantastic pairing. Yes, there are more assertive fish choices for some courses like a mackerel, sea urchin, or monk fish liver. And they are terrific. Oh, and if you really don't like one of those, they will do their best to accommodate you. My spouse despises sea urchin and they will omit it if asked. Go with an open mind toward some unique pairings, relax and enjoy attentive service, and take in the intimate sushi bar-only setting, modern, minimalist design and chic ambiance. You'll walk away with a new appreciation for the artistry and inventiveness sushi can be.

Every bite was delicious. I love this place. The space was small and intimate. The staff was so sweet. We felt so welcomed. The flavors just popped in your mouth. Every course was delicious. What a great dinner.

Jimmy was fantastic. Im happy to know that some of the best omakase you'll find anywhere in the country is located in Dallas.

Outstanding. Innovative treatments of top quality nigiri and delicious additional dishes without ever veering into novelty or over the top flavors that obscure the fish rather than complement it (as so many Dallas sushi tends to do). Plus solid hip-hop selections.

This review is a few months past due, but I haven't stopped thinking about how great the lunch we had at Shoyo was! We were celebrating my birthday back in August (everyone at this reservation was celebrating a birthday or anniversary). The service was attentive and great. The ambiance was fancy but not stuffy. Of course the food was great - some of my favorites were the toro with caviar, amberjack, toro hand roll and the matcha ice cream dessert. If I have to be super picky - the chef that was serving us was not as interactive as the other chef (not a big deal but it is normally why you would go to an omakase...) Also felt like the order of courses was a bit off - it felt like most of our favorite dishes were at the beginning and the less tasty ones at the end. And being super nit picky, the portion of the matcha ice cream was SO small and it was served in a giant bowl so I was slightly disappointed because it was so good and I wanted more! Highly recommend this omakase experience! So glad to have more options here in Dallas!
