Expensive for what you get. Bland food and small portions.

Homey Vibes and Delicious Comfort Food in Dallas

I recently visited this cozy spot in Dallas on a Sunday morning with a group of friends, and while we did have to wait a bit, the line moved faster than expected. The restaurant gives off a homey, welcoming vibe, with tables set close together, making it feel lively and bustling. One unique touch is that, as you make your way to the back, you walk right past the kitchen and can watch the chefs in action—a cool detail, though it does make you hope they’re keeping everything spotless since it’s all out in the open!

Once we were seated, our server greeted us promptly, and we found ourselves faced with a large menu, which made choosing a little tough. I ended up going with the fried catfish, accompanied by mac & cheese and fried okra. It seemed like a popular choice, and I quickly saw why—the catfish was perfectly seasoned and fried to a beautiful crisp. The tartar sauce and hot sauce they provided for dipping added just the right kick. The mac & cheese was good, though not standout, and the fried okra, while decent, could use a bit more flavor.

Overall, our entire group was happy with the experience. We finished every bite, which speaks volumes! I only wish I’d taken pictures of the food because the presentation was lovely, but I did capture the empty plates at the end—a testament to how much we enjoyed it. I’d love to come back and explore more of the menu.

To give a review I have to give a one star but I didn't want to. Between my dad's birthday at 9:10 in the morning and at 10 they still hadn't served us the food, there were only 2 of us. The waitress was never going to serve us, she already knew we were going to leave. That really isn't done, she served the food to the people who arrived after me and never to us.

This is a good place for down-home cooking. It's comfort food. In general, the food is good, but their meatloaf lacked flavor and was a but dry. The place is huge and it's inviting.

This was a fun place to get a bite. Stopped by Saturday evening during the 31 Days of Halloween in Denton, everywhere was packed. They were busy but sat out party of 5 as soon as we walked in. Staff was very friendly, service speed was as expected, and the good was very good with decent portion sizes. Pricing was also decent with everything considering. Had the black and blue burger, was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Great place to grab a bite or have dinner with friends.

We had a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We had salad with ranch dressing which was pretty good. We tried the fried pickles which were good but would have been the greatest if not for someone spilling a ton of salt on them. Way too salty. I could only eat a few of them. The chicken fried steak was good but the pan fried potato squares had no flavor and were also salty. The sweet tea was great. I didn’t like the layout of the restaurant. There was a waitstaff station in the narrow aisle that you have to walk through. Awkward for them and me. Seriously this would have been much better if they toned down the salt. It is way over the top and I love salt probably more than most but I met my match here. Overall the food was average, the atmosphere below average, and the service was great.

Parking: Being on the square it’s potluck on finding a parking spot.
