Service and sweet tea are perfect. Catfish is really good. You get 6 large pieces. I ordered chicken fried steak. It's was really salty. Don't know if it was the breading or gravy. My husband and I got side salads and we each had a large lettuce core in them. Good deal for the price I suppose.

Wonderful restaurant, right on the square, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with excellent food. Good for meeting business partners casually as well.

Went for the first time today, and my server was super friendly. Had the brisket queso for an app, then the famous chicken fried steak for dinner. Everything was so good, especially the chicken fried steak and gravy. The flavor was so good. Definitely going back.

Awesome! We travelled from Nebraska back to Temple. Stopped here because of good reviews. Was not disappointed! Wife got Ribeye was excellent. I went for Hamburger steak with brown gray mashed potatoes and green beans. We both walked away with happy tummies. The service was great along with Shiner Bock. Would gladly return.

I was visiting family. They suggested we have lunch here. The food was amazing. Their portions were big. I could only eat half my plate! I can't wait to go back I'm in town again.

My wife and I ate here during our anniversary week celebration. We took a week off and visited several cities within a couple of hours of home, each a day at a time. Well, we had reservations (turned out we didn't need them, but better to be safe!) to Cartwright's. I ordered the jalapeno burger, being something of a connoisseur of the style, and my wife got the meatloaf I believe. Doesn't really matter. This is not about her. This is about that dang burger. HOLY COW. This was literally the best hamburger I have ever had - regardless of the jalapenos I tend to try to chase. The thickest, sweetest bun I've ever tasted (thanks, Sheila Partin) and a - as they call it in the menu - "slab of cream cheese"... YES, YES and YES. Dear grief. I'm serious, friends. You have to go here and try their hamburger. I'm betting the meatloaf or whatever my wife got was pretty good too.

Went with my son, daughter-in-law and infant grandson. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger, absolutely fabulous! My son had the Chicken Fried Chicken, very tender and juicy, great gravy. My DIL had the Chicken Fried Steak, just as tender. Great tasting gravy. Great service!!!

Expensive for what you get. Bland food and small portions.
