Wow. Just WOW. I'm originally from south Texas and have found most restaurants similar to be pretty subpar. Times are also tough so justifying high food prices when eating out has been hard to do. But this place. Absolutely worth every penny. We WILL definitely be regulars from now on. Not only are their prices fair but the food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It's been awhile since I've been so impressed by someone else's food. We tried their food truck at a recent festival and will be adding this gem to our rotation list. Even now, my husband and I are thinking of the next time we get to have their carne asada fries.

I have eaten at both food trucks (Eastside and Lucky Lou’s) location and at the restaurant. Every time the food is delicious, fresh and hot! I moved away from Denton and went last night to the food truck at Lucky Lou’s location it was just as good as the first time maybe better, the service was great and it was not a long wait time for them to make the burrito maybe 5 min. My favorite is the LA SUEGRA it’s the best! I highly recommend everyone giving them a try you won’t regret it!!

I want to preface this review by acknowledging that there were only two workers during this time and I understand that it was busy. I paid $46 dollars for my food and was not told that the wait would be for over one hour. As I checked the status of my order throughout that time, the gentleman working was nonchalant and had no sense of urgency. He said they were working on it at the hour mark. When I asked for a refund when my food was still not ready, they could not refund it to my card and rather asked if I wanted cash back. I declined as I wanted the receipt for the exchange. When I received my food, the chips were soggy and the burritos were cold. I want to be sure to remark that as the young gentleman was taking orders, it was not until after a customer paid that he would mention the wait would be for over 30 minutes; seeing as they couldn’t do refunds, this seems not in good practice.

This was the worst taco and food truck experience. First of all don’t go by the menu on the website per their words it’s not updated. No friendly vibes like the other food trucks in the same area. I went specifically for the carnitas tacos and the beef Quesabirria which they don’t make, again old menu online. I went with safe bet and ordered 4 carne asada taco plates and one chicken quesadilla. The kicker she said they don’t have hot sauce, Like What?? You guys it was horrible, Each taco had 2 or 3 tiny pieces of hard meat (like raisins size )and a handful of onions and specks of cilantro. They should be advertised as onion tacos. The micro tortillas were tuff and dry. No flavor in anything not even the poor quesadilla. I cannot speak on anything else they sale. I went Friday 9/27 around 8:30.

Do not get the street tacos😭. They are MINISCULE & like $10?? for 3 tiny tacos. they come with like 7 pieces of meat in there & like two pieces of onion . also no sauce & two slivers of a lime. For sure go to authentic mexican instead!!

Ordered two burritos: El Cucuy, Chupacabra.

For a place that has burritos in the name, the burritos were mid at best. If you're looking to satisfy that Cali burrito from the west coast craving this is not it, at least not right now from the Food Truck on Austin & Oak.

Burritos were pretty small compared to what you'd expect for a California burrito.

Carne Asada had a good flavor. Chupacabra was super sweet, and unfortunately it was pretty cold except the meat.

Also, what kind of burrito place runs out of salsa at 9PM?

I have had a lot of tacos from a lot of different places throughout the metropolitan area of Dallas/Ft Worth. El Cucuy was easily , easily the worst tacos I have ever ordered, seen, and attempted to eat in my entire life. That is absolutely no exaggeration. I purposely ordered without cilantro because I am one of the people that believes cilantro tastes like soap. So it was just chicken/beef, cheese, and onion on a corn tortilla. I don’t know if they cooked these things on a grill, in a skillet, or in the microwave. The corn tortillas and onion were absolutely uncooked. The cheese was not melted in the slightest. Which tells me when they put all the ingredients together the meats were already cold. The meat wasn’t even hot enough to melt the cheese just a little bit. I have never, ever, in my life had tacos this bad. Never! I wouldn’t come back to this place to eat if I was on a deserted island and it was the only restaurant and the food was free. I’d rather pole fish! This was bad. This was bad bad. I understand that restaurants, just like any other business, can have an off night. This was so terrible though that I don’t even think you can “try” to be this bad. Being this bad comes from an absolute lack of caring about quality whatsoever. The economy is tight, I get it. Ingredients and food products are high. A restaurant has to be mindful of what they invest in the products they purchase to complete orders for customers. One cannot be wasteful at all. The economy is tight for consumers as well and I spent $38+ on tacos for two that I ended up with the remnants being thrown in the trash. Lord I wish that I would have taken pics to add here. The tacos were so small and so bad that the coworker that chose El Cucuy and went to get them literally apologized to me when he handed be the food. He said, “bro, I am sorry that I spent your $38 on this BS”! While he was handing me the taco containers. That is the epitome of trash food, I m sorry. Rant and review over. El Cucuy, please do better for future consumers. One of which I will not be! I went on March 05, 2025 around 8:45 that evening. So whoever was in charge of cooking and preparing food at that time, this review is for you and the person who hired you. Please, please do better.
