We were really looking forward to dinner at Anson 11 tonight. The weather was beautiful, and we had planned earlier in the day to enjoy a nice meal outside. We even made a reservation online specifically for the outdoor patio. So it was frustrating to arrive on time and be told there were no outdoor tables available, even though we booked hours in advance for that very reason.
Once we were seated inside, we waited a bit without anyone coming by. Eventually, what seemed like the manager noticed and kindly asked if we had been helped yet. When we said no, he offered to take our drink order, which we appreciated. But when our actual server came over, he seemed annoyed and gave off a bit of an attitude—no introduction, just a quick and snappy “DRINKS?” It felt a little uncomfortable, like he thought we had complained when we hadn’t. He was short and quick the rest of the dinner and wasn’t friendly like other experiences we’ve had at this restaurant which was disappointing. I will add that he did seem very busy so we weren’t too upset about it.
We also ordered the queso fundido, and when it was brought to the table, the skillet was extremely hot. The food runner did not warn us about it, and when I reached for my drink, my arm barely brushed the skillet—but it was so hot that it burned me and even caused a blister. I know food can come out hot, but this was honestly dangerous. A heads-up or a cover over the skillet handle would be nice.

I ordered a strawberry Margarita, and it was disappointing – it tasted bitter and had too much alcohol. The sandwich wasn’t bad, but it came without any sauce or mayonnaise, so I had to request extra mayonnaise.

Stopped by to have an appetizer but never had a waiter/waitress take care of us. Hostess took our drink order when mentioned we had not been helped and mentioned waiter/waitress would be with us shortly. Never did we get any service and had to walk out.

Wow wow wow! Couldn’t have been happier with our experience at Anson 11! Got to try Huitlacoche for the first time and it was so delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly, the service was great and the patio was a very nice place to have a meal.
Vegetarian options: Lots of options for vegetarians! We chose a non vegetarian salad and they were able to remove the meat.

This has become a favorite place to stop for a drink when I’m downtown for a show. Intricate cocktails and an extensive wine list keep me coming back to try things. Recently, we came here for birthday dessert: honey panna cotta and layered chocolate cake. Just fabulous.
