Us and an other table of 3 were the only ones in here. The server didn’t really seem to know what he was doing but I figured it might be because he is new. I ordered a cappuccino and then over 10 minutes later I sent my husband to see if they were making it. Several minutes after, the sever came over to tell us they were out of lattes. I reminded him it was a cappuccino and he said “ oh ya. We don’t have anything.” Never mind, brushed it off. I ordered the $15 tuna steak sandwich (I forget the exact name) mostly because I was really excited about the veggies and aioli sauce. When it arrived, it was just bread, tuna, carrots, and cucumbers. No sauce, not spring mix, no tomato, etc. I thought that’s ok, I’ll ask for it when he gets back. He never came back. By the time my husband was finished with his meal, he still hadn’t returned. I went to find and ask the server for the stuff that was advertised on the menu along with Togo boxes and our check. The server responded “oh. I forgot to add those?”. He quickly brought the boxes and check but still non of the stuff I asked for. We waited about another 5 minutes then left. Again, there was 1 other table that already had there food and drinks. They were not busy. This was kind of a splurge for us after paying $10 for parking and almost $50 for a meal that we didn’t like. Really a let down and mood killer.
Horrible experience all around. Service was ridiculously slow. We could never get refills on our drinks. One server was holding drinks against her chest and her long hair(which was not pulled back) was getting in them. Food was flavorless and extremely overcooked. Would not recommend, and definitely will not be going back.
Phew... First time here and probably my last time. Service was not good. Kid was really nice, but messed up several orders, and was very slow. I'm not sure if the slowness was from the kitchen as well, but we had to ask several times for the same thing and it still wasn't correct. Food was meh... They apparently ran out of bacon, because we all got turkey bacon. They didn't tell us, but when we asked the waiter was like, "yea, we're out of real bacon..." haha. Idk if they're recently under new management, but something at this place has to change, or they're not going to last much longer.Try it at your own risk, but temper expectations and expect a long wait to get your food (we waited over an hour, for breakfast).
Terrible food/service, waited maybe 5 min to sit down but took an hour or longer to get our food. Once we got our food we all got wrong orders, burnt, and missing food.Don’t know what happened food and service was good a couple months ago.Regardless not coming here again.
Drinks arrived quickly, food took a little long, but was delicious!!!! Friendly service and good food, great price too!
I regret not reading the reviews prior to visiting this place. The pictures shown on their website are false advertising. Unfortunately the food was not good. I ordered a Smothered omelet" and as you see there is nothing Smothered about this. Flavorwise, leaves a lot to wish for.Unfortunately I will never return or recommend.
Visiting El Paso Tx and we found this cute spot . Great food and service. I love the ambiance and staff is amazing.
If I could give them a -10 I would. No air conditioning, food is terrible, they were out of food and the reason they gave was because they weren’t expecting the number of guest and the delivery is tomorrow. Bacon isn’t supposed to be light skinned. Chef can’t read bc I asked for scrambled eggs with cheese. JUST HORRIBLE!!! I paid 64.95 for mimosas and a dang croissant sandwich. Waited forever to pay. The name of the restaurant says it all. It’s basic! Management is terrible. They need to close this location. It is the absolute worse! DO NOT RECOMMEND! IHOP would be a better choice.
I wish I could read the reviews before I went there on June 16th, 2022. They have a whole package to provide an outstanding service - good location, good interior design, modern Aloft Hotel next door and yet...terrible food. Terrible!!! I would give a zero for food if I could. I ordered "Mediterranean salad" with salmon. Grilled fish was dry. They called "Mediterranean salad" something like a bowl of chopped vegetables with cheap canned olives and something that looks like leftovers (quinoa). What is worse is to find strange looking black hair buried under those vegetables. $8 margarita came in a small glass and tasted watery. Did they even put tequila in it? They didn't have any tap beer at that day. What is really sad is that they are in downtown and they should represent the best that El Paso can offer. Imagine if a tourist/guest stops by and eats there. What impression about our city he/she gets? It looks like some restaurants in downtown are lacking of good quality and tasty food. Save your time and money and eat somewhere else! PS. I ate in Basico on Mesa, a few years ago, before COVID - the food was great then.
Super tasty food! The steak that was apart of the brunch menu was cooked perfectly. Great mimosas. Half the restaurant has a/c other half doesn’t fyi.Second time we sat next to the bar area that had what looked like 50 dirty glasses on it. Moved 2 tables down before the server could come back but never got service. Left without ordering.

They should give our server a raise because she was so sweet and kind despite being SUPER understaffed. The place is cute but the food is meh. I actually got sick from the waffles ? my family was also unimpressed with their food as well which was disappointing. Tables next to us weren’t cleared off for the entire hour we were there, floors were dirty, and the bathrooms weren’t able to be used. New management would be recommended since there’s a lot that can be done with this place!
If after you are served, and your waiter does not come back to your table until you ask for your check, then your meal has not been a good experience. Visited Básico Bistró on May 7, 2022 and they need to train their service staff better. The young man that attended us seemed like he did not want to be there. We got our plates and I had to share my water with our son because our waited never came back to check if we needed anything. No water refills! Food was average, $19 for one small waffle topped with two chicken strips . The place will definitely benefit with a better trained staff. Our waiter did not do anything to earn his tip.
I’m one star because I had to select a rating to leave this! Really hoping I get the manager’s attention.Last week I ordered a to go order through “chow now” the ordering service that Basico’s website uses.Somehow my order was scheduled to go through on Monday. It was Sunday when I ordered. I walked to the restaurant told them what happened. They said to give them time because the kitchen was backed up. I said okay and came back in and hour and 30 minutes.Once I came back they told me they could not fulfill my order because they were out of croissants. Instead of offering me something else they basically told me to figure it out on my own because there wasn’t anything they can do.I’ve been calling for a week not asking for a manager . I was told they would call back to refund me still have not heard back.I feel scammed and didn’t get any food.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. Horrible experience.I went there with my husband and three kids, our waiter was horrible. Before we ordered he had the audacity to ask if it was seperate checks which I find it it weird. We had never gotten that question before do to our babies being with us. We then ask for creamer and sugar and it never came, we asked for it the second time and he said there was no more creamer but I saw people that had just gotten there and they were served creamer and sugar!.My food was not all that.Save your time and go somewhere else!
Good food, although not a stop for a cheap bite. Staff was lazy and distracted, could hear them talking from across the room. There’s nothing wrong with socialization, but this cost us 40 min to get our food, and after an hour of unsupervised service, we resorted to another waitress , as our current one had disappeared. To add salt to injury, the pen to write down a tip had no ink.
