We recently dined at Taft Diaz for their prix fixe menu experience, and unfortunately, it was a major disappointment — especially for the price point.
The meal cost $350 for two, not including drinks, which we expected would reflect a high-end, thoughtfully curated experience. Sadly, the food was mediocre at best. I’ve genuinely had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse, which says a lot considering the premium pricing here.
We also paid an additional $50 for a caviar appetizer, only to realize it was essentially the same item we received in the first course — a potato casserole with minimal caviar. The “upgrade” amounted to slightly more potato and a bit more caviar, but it absolutely did not justify the added cost. To make matters worse, both dishes were served cold.
The value simply wasn’t there. For a restaurant positioning itself as elevated dining, we expected distinct courses, exceptional flavor, and attention to detail. Instead, it felt repetitive and underwhelming.
To top it off, the final dessert course was a shared, very small heart-shaped cake that tasted store-bought. For a prix fixe experience at this price level, a single tiny shared dessert felt like an afterthought.
Overall, the evening felt extremely overpriced for what was delivered. We don’t mind paying for quality, but this experience did not meet expectations — especially considering drinks were not included in the base price.
We left feeling disappointed and unfortunately would not return.
Service was ok.

Setup reservation over two months ago to ensure we had a spot for Valentine’s Day and they decided to switch it and make an event dinner after reservation which is not a problem. I call a month ago to confirm still good and was verified called again two weeks ago confirmed was good both times nothing was mentioned about event dinner. Last year they changed reservation “due to a glitch in their system” changing my reservation time from 7pm to 7am same date. Hence the calling to verify so much. Yesterday I called to confirm again and they told me they had to cancel my reservation and that I have to pre pay for dinner for 353.00. Which is not a problem. I asked for manager nothing. Be careful with your reservations. I will never go here for anything because their customer service is bad and no attention to issue especially if your trying to do something special for your spouse. Attention to details.
This restaurant is my new favorite in all of Las Cruces and El Paso. It was absolutely amazing! Our server Veronica was great and did an amazing job. The food was SO GOOD! We had the Beet and Burrata salad, the Mexican Butter(one of my favs), the Sea Bass and the NY strip. Everything had such good, varied and unique flavors. The mocktail my wife ordered was hibiscus, cinnamon and grapefruit. You wouldn't think those flavors would meld together, but it was fresh, warm and tangy all at the same time. We finished with the souffle and earl Grey ice cream. The passion fruit and coconut in the souffle were so good together. It was such a perfect end to a fantastic meal. The manager was very kind and came and talked to us. He came up with the mocktail. Very unique! We will definitely be back. By the way if I could give it more stars if I could. I dont know how anyone could give this less than 5 stars! They're trippin'!

We had a few appetizers which were delicious. We tried the scallop tostada and the octopus which were both amazing. For our entrees, we went with the duck, and the Sebass, which did not disappoint. Every plate had plenty of flavor. would recommend Taft Diaz.
The restaurant host seemed to have an issue with me having made my reservation through Open Table. Even after having provided confirmation for reservation and payment he was not the nicest most welcoming host. He seemed angry at the process. I did attend the dinner even though the restaurant said I did not attend. The food was great and the waitress was kind, attentive, and friendly.
Love the look of the restaurant, good service. The food was not what I was expecting. It didn't really taste as good as I would assume. For the price I was expecting more. The chicken one of my guest ordered was completely dry and the risotto was undercooked. Rack of lamb was good but a side of the potato's with the burgundy sauce would have been have set the plate better. Thank you for the service but I don't think we will be returning.
The service was superb!! As a frequent diner I appreciate great service. Food was pretty good! I loved the Waygu tartar, the price on the menu shows $35 but we were charged $40...it's not worth $40 to me. The Duck Breast is delicious and around the same price! I had Australian Waygu for the first time! It's a really good steak like a good ribeye but not a Japanese Waygu experience which is more creamy in texture. Very pretty restaurant, not sure about the dropping lamps on the ceiling maybe it has a meaning to the locals...it was giving us Spider-Man vibes.
Ambience was great, service was outstanding, prices were reasonable for fine dining. My problem is that the chef puts sugar in everything. The food quality was excellent, and the food had so much potential, but the chef ruined it putting sugar in everything. Soup was sweet, the salad was sweet, the protein was sweet. I am trying to eat healthy and just don't like sugar in my food. Save sugar for the desert, please. If you want to eat healthy, it is very tricky at this place.
The food was good and the customer service excellent. However, there was an event going on and it was really loud and the food was quiet costly for what it was. Our favorite part was the vanilla ice cream and I don't think that's what the restaurant is trying to get known for (haha). Otherwise, overall, it was a good restaurant and a good experience.
Good date dinner. A little slow to get drinks but in overall good to chat and spend time without so much noise

One of the best fine dining experiences in El Paso. You will pay for it... but the food is amazing!!
Appetizers: meatballs, bone marrow 😋, roasted Brussels sprouts, and the house bread with rosemary raspberry butter is a game changer!!!
The service was awesome.
The executive chef even came to our table.
Don't sleep on this place. Just make sure you get paid first...😉
We loved everything we ordered but my Casio e Pepe had too much black pepper and not enough truffles. Great time and will definitely return.
Dinner, as always, was top-notch at our last visit. From being greeted warmly and sat promptly, to the crisp bubbles and delicious food, Taft Diaz is always a delight and makes each meal feel like a celebration.
Allright allright allright!
This place is so chill and the kitchen is top.

After spending nearly two months at the Stanton House for business, we frequented Taft Diaz multiple times per week, and it was always something I looked forward to.
Great consistency, attentive service, quality dishes, large wine list, and basically no complaints.
It is not cheap, and some might find it precious, but given the level of food, I think it's a decent value.
Highly recommend the beet and burrata salad, the half chicken, the salmon, and any of the tacos.
Looking forward to returning soon.
