Adorable coffee shop in downtown Elgin. I was taking a baking class around the corner and decided to pop in for a drink. Good sized space in a cute, historic building. As it was my first time, I asked the barista Cy, what one of her favorite drinks are and she mentioned she’s been working on her matcha techniques and recently made a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Matcha drink. I told her that sounded delicious and ordered it iced - it was wonderful! I don’t like my drinks too sweet, but sometime matcha can go too much in the earthy territory, but this was perfectly balanced with a nice richness from the macadamia nut. 10/10 would recommend! If you love matcha, give this “Cy Special” a try! ? I’ll definitely be back!

I love this coffee shop. Coffee is good and has a pleasant atmosphere. That’s why I’m giving 5 stars. Today my experience was less than ideal. I tip with cash not with my card. I paid and when the barista saw I didn’t tip she said “oh you are so kind “ in a very passive aggressive tone. She has a bad attitude the whole time making my coffee. Another customer came in and ordered 3 coffees similar to my order of 4 she made all 3 coffees and left mine sitting on the counter for over 5 minutes with ice in them. Sent the other customer on her way. She again spoke to me passive aggressively. I left with four watered down coffees. I ended up leaving without tipping because I haven’t had that low level of service in a long time. I still love this coffee shop.

Best coffee in Elgin or manor! I love that I found this cute shop in the downtown area. Their coffee is always good and they have friendly service. Also recommend coming here for a quiet place to work.
I have been living in Elgin for the past couple of years, and Lo-Fi Coffee has become one of the most important "third places" to me in that time! If you are looking for a high quality (but not snobby) coffee experience, this is the place for you.
First, the coffee is GOOD. Not into coffee? They have these lemonade options that are so delicious. Second, the service is awesome. Ashleigh and Mariana are warm and inviting and know their stuff, they are experienced baristas and always take the time to chitty chat. Third, the PASTRIES!!! They are made from scratch and dang do they taste like it. And last but not least, the atmosphere. It's calm, friendly, and warm.
Everything from the coffee to the service to the investment in supporting local community gatherings, Ashleigh has build a beautiful community that we really needed! Excited to see what they do in their new space!
